Hey, everyone. Welcome to. What are you watching? I'm Alex Withrow and Nick is here to. Don't worry. The one battle after another. Commentary. We made it. We did it! It won. Still cannot believe it. This was our shared favorite movie of 2025. I've seen it so many damn times and we had a blast. Recording. This commentary recorded the day after the 98th Annual Academy Awards. When you hear the beep, that's when I hit play on the movie. In three, two, one. Winner. That's six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. One battle after another. Wow. We're excited to be here for this commentary. Yeah. This is, this is now our third PTA commentary. Well, yeah, there will be blood. Licorice pizza and then this. Yeah. And we're. And this is also the third year in a row that this podcast has released a commentary of the Best Picture winner. I did the Oppenheimer one solo because this time two years ago, we were we're recording this the Monday after the Oscars, the one battle Oscars, the Oppenheimer Oscars. We were entirely too hung over. And then another I want to do with Igor, because he's Eastern European and he brought some new flavor to that. But here we are. I believe this is our first. Like this. This isn't the dramas, but, which will also be coming soon. This is, I will say this is my 13th time seeing this film. I 13th, I've seen it at every format possible. I went all the way to New York City just so I could see it in VistaVision, I love it. Favorite movie of the year? This is your third. This. This is now my third year seeing it. Hopefully this time I won't have to escape. Potential death. Yes. Which we'll get into, which we'll get into. But, here he is. What? You dragon. That work? What you got, Leo? What you running behind with? I just love it. He's so sloppy with this. And one question I have, you know, I've seen the movie a bunch of times. I have opinions, but they're not. Everything is filled out, spelled out really clearly, which I love. Like, how long have he and porphyria known each other? You know, like, how long have they been doing this? Have they? I think they're already like partners, but I don't, you know, I don't know, but I love that. I kind of feel like this is like the first time, see, and I hurt I think on their, his and J. Laws actor on actor she said that and he was like, oh really? That's what you think. Like this is the oh I could see how it could be like that. So I don't and but I've heard other people say that. I mean, she knows who he is because what are you dragging that wagon? Everything. I don't know if they've been intimate. I mean, I would think so, because she seems, you know, into him in the car and you know, he like black girls, all that stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What do you think I do this? Yeah, exactly, exactly. And she calls him ghetto bad. I mean, it's the first time we hear it. Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, I agree, I don't think this is the first time because now that they're having this conversation. But yeah, maybe they haven't really quite gotten intimate. Right. But he definitely seems like he's the new guy on the crew. Yeah. No he he is not in charge. And that's part of the whole point. Like what? Harris is running the show here. Regina, Hall is giving orders. She is, going to be first to get. God, that was a surprise when she got a head shot and head tap, I was like, oh, damn. Oh, my God, that looks like this looks remarkable. And I've mentioned this in part throughout the year, but they reshot all of this. They shot it. They what? He watched the footage. I don't know if there was an assembly of it, but then they went back and they're like, nah, it didn't work. We can do it better. And I believe part of that was putting it under this overpass. Like it was just kind of this space was on its own and they wanted it much more chaotic. And they went back and did it. And that's that's nuts. I mean, he puts that into the budget of his movies to reshoot, but that's crazy good. This thing is perfect. Well, this is a big reshoot. It's one of the biggest, like, set pieces of the entire movie. But I mean, if he really didn't think he got it right and this is how you're starting the movie, then? Yeah, go back because I don't see any flaws in this. Oh, love that shot this year. It looks so good. Alana is really into it too. If you track her. She loves holding that gun, running all around. I just want to say that you and I, we've talked a lot about how you don't really know what the movie is, what it's going to be until it tells you we talked about that a lot with Megalopolis, actually, where you're like waiting, like is when's the other shoe going to drop? I don't you don't know what this movie is going to be until sweet the ending. Well you the sweet bag. I was like, wait, what? What? Well, you're you're just putting it together as it's going like that's the whole like even like the drop, like the first thing where we see profiteer walking down the street. Don't know who she is, don't know where she's going. She's looking over at this detention center, if you want to call it that. Yeah. And then, you know, you cut to Leo. You don't know who he is. He's running up. You don't. You don't know anything, but you're just putting it together. And this is what I love about this scene. Is that. You. It's really. It does not spell anything out. Not at all. And you're sort of like, is this really what I think it is like? There. Yeah. I mean, so you gather. Okay, he's in charge here and she's some fighter, but then. Yeah, the sweet thing just interrupting her with that and then get it up. Yep. She didn't say wow. That was look it up. I've been practicing. I can't do that. I know it's not easy to do. I could do it all the time, but I love that little. I mean, the it's we can do better supporting actor with this shot pad who was hanging out with Zelensky in Ukraine. That's why he couldn't be there to accept the award. I don't really think he cares that much about accepting an Oscar. I mean, so, but a very well-deserved win. And look at him. I mean, the back half of this movie is him just denying this to himself that he loves black girls. It's. And he's just. No, I'm a Christmas adventure now. Like, no you're not. Yeah. There it is. Get it up. And I love how proud he is, what he like I know how you like it. You like it. He's like, yeah. He's so proud of him. So, like. Like I remember, like, seen it for the first time. You're like, is she talking about, like, him getting an erection? Yeah. I think it's like, wait, what? And then the music to where it's a little light, a little funny. And then when they cut to this shot of him right between his legs, I just went, oh, my God, this movie's going to be hilarious. Serious but hilarious. Yeah. Like, I mean, two things can exist at the same time. Yes. So yeah, he's like looking there. Yeah. He's totally with her. He's totally transfixed. He looks like, oh, that's okay. We're on the knees. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. He's like, all right, all right. Oh. Oh, God. It's just great. Now, do you think that there is any, positive sexual ality going on with her in all of this? Well, actually, Ali, never rewatching this, like, just last week, and she said, why do you think she sleeps with him? And, I say, well, because I honestly think in this segment of the movie, truly, I do not think he gives a shit what she's doing. Do your worst. I don't care what you blow up, but you will meet me at this motel tonight at a certain time. And I think she's thinking, you know, if I hook up with him, it'll get me. He'll get off my back. So. Yeah. And then, which, I mean, she, you know, gets pregnant, is about to have the kid, and he hasn't been messing with her. It's not until she kills a guy. So I think she's using some of it. Sex for, you know, power a little bit. Yeah. Control. Now, why did she, you know. Oh, you know, allow him to get her pregnant. I don't know, I don't know, but yeah, I think I think there's I think it's complicated. It's very, very I think I think I think there's a bit of everything I bit there's, there, there's the forced feeling of if I don't do this, I'm screwed. Literally. Yeah. Or. Yeah. And that maybe there can be some weird sexualized kind of thing there that it she does like. It's really hard to say, but I think it all exists. Yeah. A lot of this movie is about to me of these characters, the contradictory nature of them. She's the last thing she says to Leo is you can do this revolution like like I can't get the fuck out of here. Yeah. And then she's the one that ends up ratting on all of them, you know, and turning them. She doesn't rat on the biggest ones, I don't think. But. And just like Sean Penn being like, of course I want to be this Christmas adventure, but, you know, you have a child, a black child out of wedlock or whatever, and that can't be mentioned. I like, you know, thinking like me, like, this is a great shot. I love this with the gun. It's great. It's also, we should say, somewhat surprisingly to us and graciously did win Best Editing. And that's because of a cut that's about to happen right here. Like we're in the middle of this action and we are going to voom cut to an extremely close. It just it keeps moving right after the when she runs into Sean Penn in the stall we just like bam we're in that motel room and the song plays. It's it moves and moves and moves. It's fantastic. And I also love that we don't have a time frame of when this really is. And that's perfect to me. We just get one line of narration 16 years later, later the world change very little. Yeah, exactly. Because they're using when she gets caught, the cops are like taking pictures with like iPhones. Now, you know, like the iPhones of 2025. I love that. Just jump a little forward. Who cares? The audience audiences believe it. Or if it is like a little bit into the future of what that. Yeah. Like yeah, exactly. Still works. She's great. It's like blasting cap and she went Because he's like he's like he's even saying right now this is your cell phone. Yeah. I love their chemistry so much when they're planting the bomb next to the tower coming up, she rubs her hand on the back of his head and it's like he can't see her doing that. And the look in her eyes is she's very, very happy. Like, I really do think she cares about him. And I do think she goes through horrible postpartum after she has the kid and. Yeah, what a great shot this is. Oh, God, look at that. Look at the fucking colors. Sincerely yours of Beverly Hills. I know it's in the in the close in. Yep. I still keep pushing gold. Yeah. Boom. And yeah, you know, they're careful not to kill anyone or hurt anyone. They're just trying to blow stuff up and things go bad when she pops off. Everybody. And just look at this shot, too. I know it's trust in the dark. This whole opening sequence. Sequence. This is why I think this movie absolutely deserved to win Best Editing. This is going to be about a half hour. And then, you know, I'll track all that. And the introduction with Chase Infinity's about a half hour. Look at this. Look how like tender she looks. I mean, to me anyway, when she's rubbing the back of his head I. Yeah I really think she cares about him. Oh yeah. Like all right I got and then this is great. Let's fuck. What a bomb go off. Yeah. Well I mean it's got I think it's everything, man. When you're talking about being wrapped up. Yeah. In a very, very, I mean, exciting life. Very exciting, dangerous a real risk. And you feel like you're on this cause and you're literally, like, blowing shit up. You're like, danger is here. Like your life is on the line. So, yeah, you throw insects into that mix. It's a very, very extreme life. Yeah. And you kind of right it. And I think she loves that. That's what she. Oh yeah. She loves being on that end of it. So here like he's one could assume he's been watching her kind of the whole time. It's just letting her get away with stuff. He just likes her. He's waiting for his moment to to strike. And he he is not going to like what he's about to see. The. Oh, and that's the best part. Well, all of a sudden he sees Lee and he's like, what the hell. Yeah. Like Yeah. It's he's crazy and he's way I mean, I think it's all right there when he busts into the bathroom stall and he's like, I don't care. I want my head. Yeah. Ooh yeah. He doesn't like that little, little music change again. Yep. And now it changes. Yep. Just like that. He's like I no this guy. Oh wait. We're going to get the title card. Amazing title card coming up. No sorry. Go ahead, go ahead. We still got like 10s. And again you talk about like how this movie just keeps like we were going from watching for you on these phone calls. Phone call with Leo to a bomb to then, like, job back in the mix there he is. And then we jump to them and now we're jumping to then. So this movie's it's it's here we go. It's telling you to just keep up. Yeah. Keep up. Go, go with the flow, baby. Go. We're moving, we're moving moving, moving. And it's okay. Like get like like okay. Yes. Sean Penn's back in. That's exactly right. He's back here like I love you. You didn't you didn't miss anything during all these these transitions. Mae West, star of 30s film. She was in King Kong. Oh, nice. The name. Yeah, I love this to single few sentences of narration from Leo. Title line. Yeah, it's one battle after another. So I love their his little man bun. You know, they're tried to kill look, you know, come. Correct. I love Tiana's reaction when she realizes it's Sean Penn behind her. She kind of looks just out of the corner of her eye, you see? Like her shoulders drop like this motherfucker. Yeah, like, what do you want me to do? Oh, you do your worst. Baby, the primrose path. And again, the process. Like. Like you look at the colors in the bathrooms. Change. The excitement. And he just kicks this damn door right in. Hello? They don't want my gun in my head. My had my gun, and he always is. No, like he's a step ahead of everything. Sean Penn. Yeah, yeah, that's what I mean. One can assume since their first meeting, he has been a step ahead or right next to her like this and waiting for his moment to approach. But her look right. They look great. I looked at her. I just look so. Yep. Yeah, yeah. Lockjaw. See? Yeah, yeah, it's. I think he's completely infatuated with her. Yeah. My God. Yeah, he is just he he he's guided by his, like, animal attraction to her. Yeah. He is being paid in the military to, like, fight people like this, like he's, you know, she broke up his detention center. Oh, like just his. Yeah. I mean, she has him match. Yeah. And she goes down to get the bag exactly like she, she knows that she actually does have, like, weirdly, she has the power. Yeah. That's what I mean. Yeah a lot of ways, even though if she doesn't do this then so she knows, like, fuck, I have to go and do this now. I have to go and sleep with this guy, which is fucked up. But she ultimately does have, like, this. It's that's why it's it's so complicated, even like that. Look right there, that's is like another great cut boom song. But yes. That. Yeah. Right before she went in the bathroom, she was very lovey dovey, affectionate, overly kissy on Leo. And then that was it. We don't see that side of her again for Leo because now it's this different. I mean, right after this we're going to jump cut to nine months later. Also, I want to clear something up here. If people think that when she throws him up against the wall and then is using her mouth on his ass, that is just wrong. She is shoving that gun all the way up there. She is not the type who's going to start. I mean, look how I would take my shoes off. And he's he's totally cool with everything, but they could throw it up against the wall. No she is. His reaction is strong enough that she's not, she's not using anything soft and wet. I'll say. I firmly believe she's sticking that gun in a hole a few inches up, and he's he's in a new territory. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And then boom! Cut. What did happen? Yeah. You know, we have to I mean again ups and then it's just going to be this hard cut boom boom boom. Yeah. Here we go. And now exactly. Now we know. Oh now time is going on. That love that. And of course that's, we'll get a repeat of that when Chase is doing it at the. Yeah, yeah. Later. And I think I've also heard like she's drinking here. Yeah. Perfidy is drinking like there's alcohol in that cup. That's, that's what's, you know, and she's acting kind of silly. And then when he says it's not even, it's like she doesn't even realize she's pregnant. That's right. You know, that's what that means. Exactly. Yeah. Do you know how I see it? Yeah. Yeah, exactly. It's like, I love that too. He's like, delight is. I mean, yeah. And he just does these little like, grunts and chuckles like. And I, I mean I also think this portion that we're slowly you know we got the guitar now and. Yeah. And she's like yeah she's making fun of like that that future. Yeah. And that's how they find out I mean when you know jungle. Plus he gets caught. We don't see any of this. But she clearly gave a statement to someone that the child belonged to Lockjaw. Because that's how the Christmas adventure see it. And as part of their double Yankee white. And this is this complete about red. Brown said, I love this. He's like, who, me? Me? Yeah. You. There is you. Just. And I really think he was looking for, like, a family, like stability. Yeah. And when she storms out right now, he's like, we don't need to do this anymore. Like we have her now. I think this is enough for him and enough for her. She's a runner. You're stumped. Exactly. And he was never really even in in his, you know, when he's setting up these bombs and everything. He was never really as adventurous with all of this as she was, right? Right. I the most he was he knows. He knows about explosives. He knows how to set them up. But even as this sort of revolutionary person, he's hanging in the back. Yeah, yeah. And and I don't think he has any problem. As soon as this kid was not just born, but as soon as she was pregnant, him accepting. Well, we're a family now. Exactly. We're a family. Like this is what's more important. Yeah, yeah, and we can't. We can't keep living like this when we have a child. But these things are all great. Just. I mean, there's so much truth in what she's saying here. Oh, yeah? Yeah. And also, one has to assume, or at least it is my assumption that also factoring into this is she probably very well knows that that is not Leo's kid, that it is like Charles kid. I mean, if she told her best friend that jungle pussy. Sorry for saying that word over and over, but it is her name in the movie, so I'm just going to say it. Oh, and I love when on her actors, on actors with Oscar Isaac, she talked about like color, timing, her scenes. So like, this is like blue and black because she's so mean to him. And then when she looks at the girl, it's like yellow because she gets like this light in her eyes of like, there's all this conflict in her. Yeah. So to lose your lack of originality. Yeah. And then, when she takes the pause and looks at her daughter and looks at him and she just goes, this is a new consciousness. It's a great line. Yeah. Yes. She's breaking there like she cares about the daughter and he. But not enough. Or maybe she also cares about the dollar, but she also is guilty of the fact that maybe she doesn't too, because all of his. All of it. Yes, yes, there's love there. There's also rejection, which I think she just kind of. Yeah. And now she's back to like black or blue, whatever you want to say. And yeah, I never heard an actor describe their process like that. I'm not your mother. Oh, well, a lot of, a lot of, just just artists in general. I know a lot of painters, musicians talk about color and how it really emotionally heals them. Yeah. So a lot of times when musicians will be talking about it, like they'll be talking about like a chord progression, they'll be like, yeah, this is really this is red to me. Like, this is guy for sure this or that. So yeah, I think that's very it's interesting to hear an actor kind of talk about that. And, and that is sort of a cool way to kind of navigate beats to go by colors. That's very cool. Is you got a baby. Well, hang on to that for a second because I want to talk about the scene. Their only scene they share together. Yep. This is it. So obviously Lockjaw knows who he is. Do you think Pat knows who Lockjaw is? I do not correct. Yeah, I will not correct. I'll say I agree. Yeah I think he's he's figured it out later. Later. He's too he's Leo's characters where it is. And yes he does. Oh yeah I mean look at this. And Leo plays that. So like like you are a crazy person in here okay. But interesting with the color thing that you mentioned musicians, because that was her calling. She was a musician first. A lot of people in this were the, you know, the guy that, Howard Somerville is going to be interrogated. He's a musician. A lot of them are jungle pussy. Here's a musician. That's her stage name in real life. The one thing I want to point out about that scene we just saw Sean Penn with the I love black girls. You'll we'll probably talk a lot about Sean Penn's performance, but when you talk about the specifics and the details, when you get this script and you look at that tiny little scene right there, you like black girls, I love them, I love them. The way that he plays that it's I mean, he is trying to intimidate Leo in that scene, but he's also letting you know, like, oh, this is my thing. Yeah. So like an hour from now when I'm saying, of course, I've never had an interracial relationship, you're like, nah, I'm. And you're lying. They lying. I think in the hands of a lesser actor, you don't go as far as he just did in that line. Like his like he, he's clenching everything. His hands are like in his like he can barely contain how much that he feels passionately about that. And that's what scares Leo. Yeah exactly. It's not it's not that he says that. It's the way that he says it. It means it. And it's like, why the fuck are you talking to me? The bank robbery scene is cool. It went fast, but jungle plus, he's really putting on this hardcore show until she hears that first show and then her face changes and then now they don't fuck up. You shot a cop in a bank? Yeah. Now you're going to have people on you now. Locked. Y'all has the green light to go in. This is a great like Chase early in the movie. Yeah I mean these are great the way this is all staged. Not a lot of rapid cutting. You know where all the cars are, and they're just bulldozing through, trying to get through. It's very messy, very sloppy, as I imagine it would be. Oh, yeah. Kill someone in this apartment doesn't do any favors. Oh, man. And then access comes right there. Yep. No. No CGI here, folks. Absolutely not. Again, proving that you don't need, you know, that stuff to tell a story. I know you need it for some stories, but not for this one. Well, I mean, what ultimately it does is it just puts you really into the reality of this. Yeah. We're not seeing anything. We're we're, like, calculating with our mind. Well, that's not what that looks. Looks like. Yeah. Cars don't look like that. And you're not just getting information and they're like oh they crashed. It's like, oh shit. That's how it like. And that's what happens. That's how real it is. Yeah. Now they're on the street yet we're never going to see her again. There is oh man. There's a like viral video about it where Tiziano was like, the only time I got mad at Paul is that he wanted me to run for, like, ten blocks. Yeah, I'm a helicopter shot, and I'm like, why do I gotta do that? She goes, well, what do you think this is, baby? Hey, cops are chasing you. What are you going to do? You're going to run. I love it is love that justification? And she has a very specific run. And I think that was his argument. Like, I can't get a a stunt double for you because you're run is so specific. Well, everything about her is so specific, even from a helicopter shot. Yeah, exactly. That's that's her. That's the frequency she emits, baby. Yes. She is radiant. Radiant. White. Hot. Powerful. Fierce. Video. It's too bad you don't know. Someone would sway. Tosses that out. Yeah, thanks. It's at least a bit. You're a killer. That's the least of it. But when he's like. Because you're in love with me, he really believes that. Yeah. He's like, what are you talking about? Bad. But I just think, oh, you could help me. She's still playing him playing him right here. Well. And he throws it out there. It's too bad you don't know someone with sway. Then that's who I am sitting in front of you. Someone who actually does have sway. Yeah. Yeah. He's he's basically kind of. He was the one who made that first move. I think even by showing up, this is him being like, how can we maybe get out of this? Yeah. I mean, I can get you out. I can give you the embrace of the federal government, but you got to name names. Yeah. And I do think that he does seem to be the type of person that, you know, with his, you know, love of being in the child, the Christmas adventures thing. I think this whole entire thing, we're jumping a little bit. But when she leaves him, I think that's the biggest devastation that's ever occurred to him in his life. Absolutely. And he doesn't even know how to process it. He's this dude thinks like I'm getting her out. I'm taking down, you know, some people like, I, I really don't think she gave them, like, leave it like Pat's name. I don't. I think that through the dissemination of other information, I think she gave, like, Alana's name. So he found her and other people, and. Yeah, I think he's thinking we're going to this house like it's going to be life ever after WitSec witness protection. It's because, I mean, he's obsessed with her. Yeah. So he's finding this, like, you know, crazed out of place, love, and then just making it happen. Yeah, and he thinks it's real. Absolutely. This guy's another musician in real life. Yep. There's not many acting roles. There's a lot of musicians in this. I love this song. He's like, come on, Bob, wake up. Bob. Yep. Hey. And this is how you get this information across there you went. You see another person with one of these? Trust them with your life. So what? That's a big thing to say. Yeah. And that and clearly will in there even playing like the frequency under so you can hear the whole tune. And now we're going to hear that in the bathroom with Chase infinity. And again on the road. Oh hey Bob, wake up. Welcome to the world. And you can even see like Leo. Like he's he's he's still even in this stage of his. You know, where he's at with this life, he's still kind of like, wait, what? Yeah. Like, oh, okay, I'm doing this and. Yeah, like, see, he's not even really all here with it here. No, he's playing catch up. Yeah, but it's also like panicking because it's all happening so fast. So fast. We gotta go. We gotta go. And you're like, well, we'll just slow down. Just tell me. Yeah. See? And he's like, right, okay. Got it. Okay. Yes. Yeah. What? Oh the world. Big picture. Bob, look at his eyes. He's terrified. Yeah okay. Yeah I love the grandma. Yeah, I'll go with Grace. So that's his daughter. You know what she is right there. You know what? She is a baby. Technically, that's true, but she is also a bastard in a basket. Oh, my God, is she not? Is is she not? Oh, she would have to be a bastard in a basket. I'm just saying. The afterbirth. Yeah, that's what she is calling back. Well, I mean, that's, you know, that's a, that's a Daniel Plainview everybody. That's a from a there will be blood just for keeping score written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Yeah we're making it all happen making these connections. So yeah, we're about a solid flat 30 minutes into the movie. And now we are going to just cut straight to Chase Infinity's face 16 years later. And then we're going to live with her and Leo for about a half hour until he gets the call. Yeah. Yeah. Moving her to WitSec. I mean, it's not very glamorous. And this is all happening. He's moving to Denver. I think it's the first stop. Oh, yeah. He's going to go to Denver. Set up, make it look like he was actually there for a little bit. Then he's going to go to Bakkt and Cross, which is kind of a cool town named made a town. But I like that. And I love this outfit she has on because it looks almost suburban. Yeah. I mean, it's probably like clothes. They I don't know. Yeah, or something, but I don't think she would wear that. Absolutely not. No, she would never be domesticated like this. Yeah. She's a runner. He's a stump now. They turned her new stump. Oh, man, this did surprise me. I'm not going to lie. Boom. Head tap. One shot done by Alana. Yeah, the star of the last one. So I get it. So yeah. First killing this one. Yeah. Really surprising. Really quick. And, just look how quickly we cut away. We just get, like, a few frames of seeing lockjaw. I'll put the pistol back in his holster through the open door. Yeah. Brilliant. Cut. Oh, just that boom. The way the wig falls off. Yeah. That's great. Yeah. I amount. Catching them together. And so again though, like, here we are. We're just there. There she is. That's her last scene. Yep. Like we're just. These things are all just happening, and you're just. You're just catch up. Catch up, catch up to it. There's tally. He's going to get away. The movie is always feels like you are as an audience member playing catch up. Yeah. But you're not in a way where it's it's confusing. Well, it just feels like you're in it with them. Like we feel like we're this guy. We're like, oh shit, what do we do? Like, yeah, run. We don't, you know, we didn't have any warning for this stuff. This is the I call it to some of my 12th viewing. Literally last time I watched it. Listen for a little This is PTA man. Do you know who that? So, Bedford. Nathan Bedford Forrest, according to Forrest Gump, started the KKK. So the Bedford Forrest Award is like this. It's just this little dig. It's like. Yeah, exact. I got that on the 12th viewing, I was listening. I'm like, well, wait a minute. Forrest Gump teaches us that he was named after. So yeah, Nathan, that has to be what that means. Wow, I got it. Yeah. So there's all these little things. I mean, I have another one that's going to kind of blow your mind that I learned very recently in, in a. Well, in a while. In a ways. Yeah, in a ways, of course not. Not. She's like, you know, in the shower, maybe shaving her legs, doing something in the house, maybe cooking you a meal, and she can't come to the door right away. Nobody gets it. You knock that it's the battery. But even that last knock though. Yeah like patient it. Well it's also I think it's I actually think it's I think he knows already. I think he has a suspicion I think that last knock the battering ram already in the, in the truck. Well he's got that on a tap no matter what. It's a fucking like portable mini. Yeah. It's he really throws his weight to it too. But you fucking opens that door. He does. Sorry. Lockjaw. Would you expect. Can't put her here. Yep. There it is. Yeah, I absolutely think he's devastated. This is, like, the worst moment of his entire life. And, this is great. Just a few quick shots of her walking right into Mexico. And then walking out of the movie. Effectively, I found she was still. She was the star of the first 30 minutes of this movie. And then. Yeah, she's, you know, she's out. She was still in this movie, percentage wise, I believe, more than Amy Madigan in weapons. But I ain't mad at Amy Madigan winning. Well, winning it's fine. But it's also like just, her, her, this whole, like, her actions and consequences are felt throughout the rest of the movie. Exactly. She's not there. And then we hear her voice in the very end. So they, like, do bring her yet? No. And then the music. Just Johnny Green one taking us up and up and up again. Higher than that. We go higher. We're going to do another shot of the bastard in a basket. So really you could start the movie from here. You could if you wanted to. You'd have to play extra catch up a boom. There it is. Perfect. Beautiful. And there it is. Here's this band. Dirty work that I've used in every one battle episode that we've had so far this season. Just a callback to it. And now, like, even with this song, though, like, we're getting innocence here. Yeah. Like we're getting, like, things are sort of okay right now. I do want to say, the first time I saw this, I swear to God, I went, oh, that's not good. She's not breathing. And then I went, oh, wow, okay. That's that impressed me a lot. And then you hear how sharper breath is. Ocean waves. Oh yeah. She is not fucking around. We see her work in a bag later. She she chase is tall. She is kicking that bag up at the height of her head. She's skilled. She knows how to. She could take someone down. She takes lockjaw down when he's walking her to a bounty. She. You know, had she not been handcuffed, she probably could have gotten out of it. But she takes him down. Well, and this is all stuff that she did in the prep for this movie. Oh, my God, I know so much. Get the high. What a great way to see it to get it that he does like the the big mouth exhale like he took too big of a head. It's just yeah. Oh my God that he plays high so well. He does conference. But this like big his mouth that aired it out with the cartoon I know it's like checking the guy's make sure everything looks somewhat. Oh, man. Just, Oh, my God, it's perfect. I've never done that in my life. Never joke like, oh, yeah, I angle. Yep. I love notice how she's not in his shot at all, but he's in her shot a little bit. Meaning just his shoulder. Yeah, this is just hysterical. Also a great editing choice to not show us what he's talking to because it's obvious. Yeah. Okay. Whatever his intentions. Yeah. Those are great Grand wizard. Well, we're like, it's a it's fair question. What did Teddy Roosevelt do to the Philippines? Go look that up folks. Each. This is that he got. Fucking slave. A slave owner. I'm sorry. I can't do that. Do. She is, a non-actor. She's just perfect. This perfect? Yeah. To get to it. I think it's so emotional. These are tears of joy. I love the shots so much. Perfect. Just looking down and he has to play up to it a little bit too. Yeah. Yeah. Says the actor. Like you are kind of tilting your head up to get the best camera shots. You okay? And what a dad. He missed a bit. I just love about their life because, you know, he's he's still a big fuck up a way, and she kind of takes care of him in some ways. Yeah, I mean, it's just great. I love when he repeats that when she was very young. I mean, I think even, by the way, that they live it, like they're just just getting by. Yeah. I mean, they are hiding out to. They're not anywhere that looks very glamorous. They're like, in this house, in the woods. No one's allowed to come by, you know? Little loud, don't you think? Yeah. No cell phones, no. None of that. Oh, man. Here comes. And then again, 16 years later, not very little has changed. And here they are. Yeah. Unbelievable man. Just Jesus Christ what a fucking world. Yeah. Lockjaw one assumes through the you know dismantling of the French 7516 years earlier has gotten promoted. So he is kind of hot shit. Look at those signs over there. HIV positive occupied. Like there's all these little it's like the Bedford Forrest thing. Like there's all these things. Yeah. Well, you think, you know, this is about, I think the idea. One of my favorite scenes. First meeting, the Christmas adventures. Oh my God. Oh, this is might be my favorite scene of the whole. Yeah, it's so perfect that how tight it is on their faces. Tony Goldwyn is. That is I mean, this did we should say, probably most shockingly, one best casting. I really thought that was going to go to centers. And it's all these like, everyone is perfectly Katz. Tony Goldwyn is amazing. The banality of evil. You absolutely buy it. Oh yeah. And I mean, and everything about that so specific about Sean Penn's characterization. It's like his teeth, the way he clenches and his, like, his bottom teeth, the way that he licks the home and combs up his little hair, like everything. It's so detailed, which he got from. If you watch Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, a guy does that in the beginning, right before he's about to go live in front of the Pentagon like a big defense guy does this exact thing. Oh, man. And look at that hairstyle in general. Terrible. Just terrible. Oh. There's a whole world in here. We got Tony Goldwyn, we got our guy Sweeney, this guy who was, the longest, writer for SNL, 30 years. So that's, you know, that's why he was in Billy Madison. That's why he had a cameo in Happy Gilmore to. Wow. And that's why he's so low key. Funny lunatics, haters, you know, street trash got so great. Punk trash. Oh, yeah. Punk trash. We it. And, you know, standing up. And look, look how he waits. Tony Goldwyn just so the pleasantries are done talking about a garage and then boom. All right, this is enough. I gotta get down. Boom. It's all very polite. And I brought this up to you on the Oscar nom. Our Oscar predictions episode. When Lockjaw will stand to say goodbye. He forgets. He forgets to say bye to Sandy. And then there's a little, little look over his face like, you fucking idiot, you were supposed to shake his hand. To who got. Oh, got to smile. Look at him. Yeah, yeah, he's so nervous. So this is the room. This is the room. Interested in us? It's like when these tics are coming out of him. It's when he's nervous. Yeah, yeah. Or maybe hurt or. Yeah. Or he's in an emotional state. This is al from there will be blood. Don't be thick in front of me. Al. Al the realtor. Now that lot can be God. Yeah. See? So these guys are not military. They talk about how they recruit military. They never use racial slurs or. I mean, the military guys do at some points, but these guys don't. It's all, you know, making the world pure. All that stuff that, you know what they're saying. Yeah. Oh, yes. I did hear. Christmas. What a fantastic day. It's just perfect. Superior man. You are superior. I mean, I'm laughing at this, but I also, I, you know, my brain leads me to believe these things absolutely do exist. Oh, yes. Groups absolutely do exist. And you are you are superior than other human beings. And that's how you view yourself. And you're going to do whatever you can to, as he says. And they they take the G off it, he says making which I love making the world. You know, it doesn't sound it. I just love that it's so casual and polite. But what he's saying is, let's yeah, let's wipe out immigrants. Let's wipe out all nonwhite racial purification. That's exactly. Is this is. Yeah. What would be a problem I love the question. Pretty simple. Yeah. Mental for us. And look how seriously and earnestly he takes. Have you ever like traded been a trader against America. He's like no that how he over blows the interracial relationship. But this is great to it was defended. I abstain from the white. I have no regrets. Okay. Yeah. Look at the sincerity of this answer. Yeah. And then look at the insincerity of this is. Yep. Yeah. It doesn't, it doesn't mean. Does it maintain eye contact. Yeah. Yes, sir. I just all. And if he plays it off though enough to where it's like they'll they'll buy it. Like he could be, shocked by the question. It's kind of how he plays it like. No. Yes, sir. My God, I love that. Incomplete. Where do you come up with these names? What would be problematic? What would be a problem? Oh, look, looking. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Sure, sure. W Inquisition's complete. That's tough. It's just so wordy, and I love it. It's so crazy because it's so specific, but just also so, like, polite. And again, the conviction here. No, sir. Yes, sir. I mean, and then when we see this jubilation that comes over him, he's crying when he's walking away. No. See, watch, see, he ignored Sandy. And what what's his face? Yes. He's, Yeah. No, he's not crying. No no no no no, my friend, this man is scheming and planning because he absolutely knows that he's had an interracial relationship, and he absolutely knows that there is proof of it. So right now, these shots he is putting together, his plan to go find Willa and fucking kill her if she is. Indeed, he is not happy. He is terrified right here. He might be crying, but he's crying. No. And he has some tracks to cover. Now the movie is getting. Ever thought? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. I thought this was all like tears of like he goes, oh shit, it's come back to bite me. Now I have to find her, by any means necessary. So, you know, behind the scenes, he's hired a volunteer. The tracker, to get this guy that we're going to see. Somerville. And this is how we're starting. I gotta say, the first. The first time I saw this, I was not putting this together at all. I honestly did not know what was going on until the second meeting with the Christmas Adventures, when they literally spell it out for us and they're like, we have reason to believe that Lockjaw has, you know, a daughter out of wedlock who's black out there? And I went, oh, and dude, this makes so much more sense because, yeah, because I always did kind of wonder, why are they just targeting that French 75? It's been 16 years, right? It's not like they've been on the hunt for them for years on a hunt to destroy the evidence. Yes. That is the only thing he's doing. Oh, so now that we're in it, it. Yeah. He's like, where are all of them? And trying to find Willa of sick. Yeah. I mean, he's like, okay, I can I hired this expert tracker. He's going to find him. We're going to, we're going to bleed him for info. He is going to cave because we threaten his sister. That leads to Leo's house and on and on. And, you know, tell me where the. Where do the kitty boppers hang out at? There's a dance at the high school. Like it's all now we're in motion. Look how fast we're moving. Hood over the hood. Boom. Yeah, and then this. And this is why? Because he's. Yeah. Lockjaw is on this mission. This is all. And then when the Christmas adventures get wind of this. They do not like this. He lied to us. He wants to clean up his mess so he can continue to make fools of all of us. And if they. If he would have said in that room, I. Yes, I did have an interracial relationship and I think there's a child from it, they probably would be like stood up, shook his hand and said, you know, don't ever talk about us again or communicate with any anyone you know from us. But thank you for telling us the truth. And then audio's good. Yeah. That you wouldn't be in the club. Exactly, exactly. He would be out of the club. But this whole world, it's built like these kids know. You know, clearly Somerville is going to them. Hey, if you ever see my ass get dragged off. Yeah. Go read this message. So this thing is flaring up. Regina Hall to go. You know, all that. They're just not showing us that snap, crackle, pop. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's 100% true, because that is how it is. Like, if you ever see anything like this happen. Yeah. Billy goat as Billy goat. Howard Somerville. Oh, my God, I love him. And then yeah basically saying okay, implement snap crackle pop. Like we have to get Regina Hall. Yeah. Like that's what I mean. That's just. Yeah. Get ready to move. Get. We got to get we got to find Willa. Yeah. I mean, who knows? Like everyone who is involved, you all need to go to the safe house. Like the nunnery, like that's, you know. Oh, my God, this is one of my favorite scenes I know James at. Oh, my God, friends 75, the resistance. Yeah, right to it. That's how you do it. This is his first time acting. And this is like what he did right now. He's currently a, like a school resource officer at a high school, but he has done this stuff when he said, I saw him interview and they're like, so how did you do that? And he goes, that's just me. But he's a really, really nice guy. But like for his job, this is again the banality of evil. This guy, this dude is in a fucking plastic, a metal container that they like, you know, transport stuff in and the back half of it is covered in plastic, meaning we can just fucking shoot you right here, dude, and put you in this plastic. Burn your body. It's done. So that's. And I mean, you got this huge guy standing behind you. His name is Toe Jam. And I love it. Yeah. He's laughing. Yeah. And all plastic in a container. Yep, I appreciate that. Yeah. Yeah. Tough. And then one, one thing. That's it. Toe jam knows the name. Yep. He's considering it. Oh, he knows he's toast. But he also look at those eyes. Yeah. No more jokes. Slow pushing. What are their names and where do they live? And it's simple too. Yep. And then he's, you know, he's he's reporting the lockjaw and now okay they're there and back and cross and he goes find me a reason to go to Baton Cross. Let's just go rustle up all the immigrants. Easy find reason ploy. Yeah. Make me a reason to deploy drugs and tacos. They're going to go. But he is, But he is not consulting with anyone. He's a colonel. So he's doing all this on his own. But as we you know, they're about to break into the finger chicken lick and and, you know, rob them and everything. But that brand is owned by a Christmas adventure. So when you go off on this rogue mission, you start messing with you know, the group you're trying to get into. Yeah. See, they're not they're not living like, like living it up. And then here comes Leo. Look at the hair. The hair. And just stumbling out of bed. It's like, is putting it up. Booty Hill. And. Oh, man. And these people don't know why they're. They have to capture them. They're just following orders. You don't ask questions when you're getting ordered by a colonel. Here's our first little closeup of the DNA test kit there. Yeah. Yeah, that's most important. We got a problem. And then. Yeah, I mean. You gotta. You gotta wonder, like, how many times. Like, when they look up and see something like that. Like, there always is a bit of that paranoia. Oh, yeah. Is that us? Is it physically? Is it for us? And you've got 16 years of being like hasn't been yet, but now it is. Yeah. Oh great shot. Yeah. Looks like a little, little wide fisheye. Maybe. Yeah. So that's what that's what this whole thing is about that he just needs to find this, find the evidence and get rid of it. Yeah. Okay, let's head up. Oh. That gear. I know he's looking. Bright ram horns. And it likely is not. No, they're they're just creating whatever they need to create to make it seem like this is all for the purpose of. This isn't just to get 116 year old girl that he is most likely going to kill. Yeah, his whole task here that you set for himself just so he can be superior. Man, this is. Yeah, I. Dude, I got to tell you, I, I never, never put that together in that way. Like it. Not that not that it doesn't make sense what's all happening, but that from the second he's leaving there, it's he's now playing it. Yep. He is cooking up. The plan is great. Thank you. Oh this is cold. Oh he's so he's like the the child with her. Like what. Yeah. What. Thank you. Well I drove. I specifically told you where I was. I love rustic, and it reminds me of wrestling. Yeah, I love when he's going to tell it. He's, like, doing that thing. He's like, so, you know, get that old crackly tube sound. It goes, you don't need any of that anymore. He bought a computer. Bought out a computer program. I know how to drive and do well with my car. What what what, In his robe. Then. It's like. Wow. Oh, wow. Okay, look how this is lit. Like, not overly lit at all in shadows. It's just beautiful. I like what you're. Just. Yeah, I look, it goes. No, you're right. You gotta be better about that. Oh, my God, you're come to, like, the hilarity of his performance. Really coming through loud. They have a red car like that. Dude, dude, that. That one's. Just like he's so serious. Yeah. What's really me, though? Yeah. What's up homie? Put in your fucking garter. In my fucking garter. She's never been at a movie before. Going up against Leo. Like it's great. With no means to get is perfect. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Slim storage space. Not. Love the way it's what you think was cool. That's cool. Okay. I got a date bug pad about, Let's leave a little fuck. Talking about freedom. These kids are just perfect. Like they're not really fazed by you. Just like your dad's aggro, bro. Yeah, there it is. So there's, like, a slap hug quinoa casserole with Frosted Flakes. Oh, man, that's a Pynchon thing. He always has these funny, like, gross food things that he talks about in his books. I love him. Yeah, she. Those single hand hug. It's great. Got you a second fucking car there. You got that red car like that, bro. The loud. What is what is aggro? Aggressive. Yeah. Like he's just like, aggro for no reason. I mean, he has a reason, but these kids don't know that. Very popular song, like, a few years ago. Was kind of cool to hear that it would be in a dance is all going to be one take from. Oh, Holy. Yeah, it's all one take. It's great. And she literally threw up on it. Oh my God. We need to go find Tom and Ron. Yeah, there it is. Your signal. The revolution will not be televised. That's the code. That's what I love it here. Yeah. Look at her eyes. Yep. She doesn't. She has no idea who she is. Yeah, she would have no reason to know. Say, baby. Yeah. So great. But she lies. She does lie. She says she doesn't have a phone, but she's 16. And again we're just moving. We didn't even get like a wide shot of the dance. It was just one them in the bleachers like you just move move move. Yeah. We're just here. Yeah. We're just going. Yeah. No up of those devices like we, we already we got that. The guy gave us the explanation earlier. This is, like my favorite scene with Chase in this whole movie of just being stunned, and, like, agreeing to this. And this part is like, damn, my dad was right. Holy shit. Yeah. Like she there's a. Yeah. Her eyes got a little bigger. No. Yeah. I wonder why she lied. I think because she's 16 and scared and unsure, but yeah, I mean, she's been lying to her dad the whole time. She doesn't even know she has a phone. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Here it comes. He's trained for this. And years ago. It's been a long time. I. I've fried my brain, fried my brain, and they're right fucking there. Yep. They're there. I love that she was right. And that's reason like right there. It's a trust like you see other cops but like holy shit. It's is all actually really happening. And now. Yep. Now you're running for your fucking life. Yes, yes. This is so, like, you can just imagine this happening if you were, like, in a fun dance and then, boom, all the lights come on to be terrible. It's believable though. I love that song. Yeah. Oh, my God. And I love when they're. Do you know, we'll have Ferguson next year. And we just cursed Somerville. And his eyes are all big, seeing if they're lying. And there's so just. Oh, I'm in here. And we are exactly one hour into the movie, so another 30 minutes has passed. He is about to get the call that ignites him on his mission know. Look at Somerville's eyes, though, seeing if they're lying. Oh, it's just great track and everything. And he gets the right once. You know, one thing that's. The the amazing thing about Leo's acting. And he's done this in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and start doing this. He the reason why he's so funny is because it's he takes it all so serious. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So this call is going to send him on his mission, and then we have like an hour and 35 minutes left of movie like, that is like a whole movie. So you could start the movie here. You can set the movie right here. Let them get the call. No one says more like angry, confused, repetitive fucked than he does. Like he says fuck. So many times just on these phone calls, he's like, oh, hi. Yeah. And when he goes back for the next drag of the weed, like, it's not like, it's not like you can make a bit out of that. He doesn't. He just he just does it because it's it's they. Yeah. It's a yeah. It's a visual. The sunrise. Don't fucking panic Bob. Yeah I love it. He puts his fucking fists up I'll fucking panic Bob. Come on. Fucking panic Bob. You're. In psych. Okay, okay. Billy goat is in the wind. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The hammer is loose and the hammer that's locked. All. Yeah. You can't even yell in his own house. Yep. Oh. And he's still, like, one step behind of being because he's high. Yeah. Like, whoa whoa whoa, wait a second. And I don't think he thought too much about this stuff in 16 years. Not like not the code speak and everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He didn't keep up with his text. Yeah. Click. Oh my God. Fucking, Okay. I don't know the actual term for this cut, but it's often referred to as a jaws cut when we're going to be on him on the couch. And then we look at the door, and the assumption is that when we cut to the door, he's still on the couch, but instead the door explodes. Yeah, okay, let's try to get those hair annoyed. Man. But instead they've tricked us and he's already in his tunnel. Yep, yep. Yeah. Take that with you. Yeah. Put in your garter, buddy. Yep. See how we cut to him and then cut to the door. It's implying that that he's still on the couch. So when it explodes, you're like, oh, shit. Yeah, that's a jealous cut. Boom. There's storm on in. And it's also a perfect way to keep going with the movie, too. Yeah, yeah. Because we're exactly forward propulsion. We're just moving. Yep. And then you get it like all of a sudden when he's not there you're like, oh he's he's gone. Then we catch up with him and yeah. Oh okay. All right. Yeah we're going, we're going one battle after another. One battle after another. Damn right is. That's trashing his house, looking for clues. And then Lockjaw just wants it to clear. He just walks in that swagger. Yeah. These guys, these guys feel very real in a way that leads me to believe they're not actors the way they know that. The way they talk. Well, they said that, like, like majority of the casting for all of these roles were non-actors. You can absolutely tell, like, all the nurses, all the teachers. I'm sure. Absolutely. All of these military guys. Yeah. The nurses, you can definitely tell. Yeah. That teacher I love to see the smells it like, what the hell's a picture going to smell like? Dude, maybe she took it when she was four. I don't think it's. It's true. That's a little hard. Well, I gotta tell. He's a bomber. Really accurate depiction of, like, what? This type of gas would do to you. Because we used to see this in movies all the time where they're like, hoo hoo. They just cough it out like, no, that would, man, that stuff gets in your lungs. Even a little bit of it in it can destroy you. So him coughing it out, rubbing his eyes. Very accurate. Well he's affected. Yeah. For like miles, whatever. He's running from where he's at to like, some kind of store. Yeah, yeah, he's selling it the whole entire time. Yeah. He's a bomber. Yes. This is this is tear gas. Yeah. I would assume some sort of. Yeah. Tear gas, something. But it it's this stuff is not designed for it to like you get a little whiff of it and then you just cough it out like it burns every which way. And he knows it instantly. Oh, yeah. Yeah. No no, no. No. You get that in your lungs you can't really like, you know, breathe. So he could have could have absolutely died down here. You know, gotten stuck. I just love that he's got this hole in his house that leads to this shit. Outhouse. Fucking shitty outhouse. Here it comes. Here's the music. Rarely gonna stop. It'll stop occasionally, but on, you know, rarely. Well, where is this? Is a tree stump? I know, it's like, in the middle of. It's like this little junk thing. But, yeah, you would be truly fucked up if you were also pay attention to his, his bag choice, like, oh, it looks like he has his own go bag, but that her go bag looks like it was made when she was like, four. It's like this little pink backpack Sergio sent Carlos, I guess, for clues. This is all that production design stuff. Like, like tiny little details of. How much did they own? That must be so old. Yeah, yeah, even even his TV. He's watching The Battle of Algiers on. That's not a new TV. No, no. Oh, God. Oh, God, what a great head it is. Through his head, into it, grabbing the glasses. And even Leo is so specific with everything that he does. Oh, yeah. I mean, it would burn so bad. I've never had it happen to me. I know you have to do it for like some training that you do. You know, if you get sprayed with like, yeah, mace and stuff like that. Shit. I just got to plug this ancient phone. He said, make sure it's like A1G phone. Don't use a new one because they'll be able to track that. And you know, and the one thing is also like, you know, yes, he's kind of blinded, you know, by the tear gas and everything like that. But even if in your in any situation, right, if your activity is the actor is walking across a scene doing all this or that, he is the kind of guy who's so sloppy that he is going to be banging into shit. Yeah, of course, you know, like he's not the guy who's going to be like stealthy. So but like, gassed or not gas or not. Yeah. Exactly. Whether he was gassed or not, he's still got to talk to this guy. Yeah. Exactly. You're fucking insufferable. Oh this is great. This is a guy that, auditions Alana with Sean Penn and Licorice Pizza. Oh. Thank you. Alana, I feel like I've been talking to rainbow. I don't remember that part. Look at those glasses. I know there's cataracts. They're huge. Yeah, they're like old people. Glasses. If you're wearing your glasses, like, over them. Over glasses? Yeah, yeah. What a choice. The hat, the robe. He's in the shit for the rest of the movie. Yeah. Never gets out of the robe. Code speak. That he's just duck in on the door, you know, like that's. Get out. You fucking with me, motherfucker? One I mean, one of the funniest things. Maybe the hardest. I laugh in the movies when he calls it back and he goes, what time is said? He starts crying. Yes, yes, yes. Funny. And again, that's also serious. Yeah. Like for him he's like, you understand? You have to be fucking kids. You. Which is the way fucking this wolf of Wall Street, once upon a time in Hollywood when he can just inject fuck into every sentence, maybe more than once. It's so believable. Yeah. You did. You just liberal. I love you, you have liberal. You look like he literally keeps calling them where they're talking on the phone. He's a Benicio. So far, pretty good. So what? But he goes, come on, there's no threatening you. We're talking on the phone like, man, yeah, yeah. So like that. Well, you kind of what? That would be a crazy thing too, is like if, if all of a sudden, like, in the course of 16 years, there might have been like a bit of, like a political switch. I mean, yeah, within him of some kind where he's like, damn, these stupid kids. And I love this. Like ducking down, running over the bridge. Oh, there it is. Yeah, I think a really cool, wise, smart choice to not translate the Spanish for us and just have it like, go like they don't caption for us. You just because we get it. Like you get it, you get the urgency, you get. All right. We got to move him here. We got to take him here. And yeah I love that. And then the the story I mean his involvement in this movie is absolutely insane that he had ten days after being the star of the Phoenician scheme. Yep. And then he came to this and they're in the middle of production. He's like, yeah, since I didn't since he didn't have any time to prep you know, let go of the Phoenician skin character and take on sensei. He came up with all this shit himself. Like, I'm sure he was a karate instructor, but the whole, like, Latino Harriet Tubman thing was all him. Yeah, I want to put it in this. And he was just going to use that as his backstory. And Leo and PTA were like, that's interesting. So apparently all this stuff between them is improvised. All this stuff with them in the car, not necessarily like on the take, but they would have like rehearsed it. The improvization had been like, yeah, I say that to say that. Ask about the phone. They're in a tux. You know, it's just like hits the ground. It's so blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah. Get off to to Tommy. I love that, I love this heavy metal bro. So, the very first day of shooting for Benicio was when they enter into, like, the phone where Leo's looking for the phone charger. Yeah. That was the first day of shooting for Benicio. Wow. And he was so nervous that he said that, because he was he felt unprepared. Yeah, sure. And he said Leo took him under his wing, and they cultivated exactly what you said. But like, on that first day. And Benicio was saying he was so grateful for Leo, for being the movie star. That was the ultimate, like, welcoming. And that's stuff. Honestly, I get chills when you say that because I love hearing that movie stars do that. He also did that with killers of the Flower Moon, like Lily Gladstone, who's not a seasoned performer. And he's like, you know, helping her out. I love that he's saying absolutely, yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. Using his work. I mean, that's when you hear like that. They're very generous actor. It's because yeah, they're like they're acting to make you better. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Well it's because they also know that the big picture. Yeah. Yeah. Is, is, is that it's the movie. Yeah. And you know, when you're working with these people. Yes. From the you wait. No cash, no cash. All from the heart. Trace that the little look he gives them when, she doesn't have a phone and we just hold up and he said, look, you know, she has a phone. Yes. Your bad hombre about your bad on birth. And that's only going to get said twice. He calls him it here, and then the nurse calls him that, or rather, the intake officer calls him that. Like, if you're a bad hombre, you got to go. Yeah. When she's in on it. Oh, this is just great cutting. God is an editor. I would have so much fun with this because there there's no rules like you get you have footage of four subjects. And look what this editor does with it. Just boom. Like the next cut is him. Next cut. And then. But it won't be that every time. Like this. Let's see. Film. Yeah. We're back to her. But but but they'll do jump cuts on the subject. Like it's just so much fun back and forth. And you see how he's he's not screaming at him. He's not. No insulting how they look right here on the screen, the lipstick and whatnot. Not he says something at the very end about about an doesn't he not like getting a look. She's he's basically like, I'm going to if you don't give me a name, I'm gonna send your ass off. And then he just caves. Yeah. Or rather they. Sorry. You know. Yeah. I'm trying to be polite a lot. This guy just don't look like your parent. Kinda. I love that. Just want to just ask again what's again this film go on and unlock that for me. But as a high school resource officer, this is what you'd have to do all the time. Oh, yeah. Just grilling high school kids. But not yet. Not with, like, intimidation. I'm going to hurt you. He's not doing what he did to Somerville. Do you ever know this story of, Blood diamond with Leo? And, I always, gym in Houston? Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Basically, like, they were on, you know, in the location and. And how do you say his name? Zhiming. Zaman. Yeah. He was getting, essentially, like, put into, like, a bad situation where someone was trying to start a fight with him, and he didn't want to cause trouble. No. And then Leo was with him, and Leo was like, yo, if you want to fight him, you have to go through me first. So. So, like, Leo is a stand up guy, like he is. He's there to to de bat that leader and that that type of person. And that's just, that's that's not even like on set. That's all said like hey that's what that's like moderate camaraderie you feel between them when they're on screen hopefully. Oh yeah. All right. Cool. I trust you were good. Yeah. I don't get bad about anything anymore. I love those callback to all that's. You know, it's a little known message to, limey. To what the the limey. Like I don't get mad anymore. Like, I don't freak out anymore. No, no, you don't think so? You know, the Peter Fonda is one throwaway line in The Limey? I don't think so. You don't seem to knows it as well as we do. Yeah, but I think that's probably just that shit. Yeah, maybe. Maybe. Well, hey, if you ever if you ever meet him, that's your question for him. That's like one little thing that Leo said. Was that from Peter Fonda in The Limey? Holy shit. You got it? Yep. Yeah. You're right. You're absolutely right. Thank you. That's where he got it from. He loves the movie as much as us. Why wouldn't he? You could really start the movie here. Well, no, it'd be a little confusing now if we just started right here. Oh, hell. But here, here we're going to see some tactics that were, quite common. Fight fire with fire. That's, you know, and you're, you're gonna they are chanting in Spanish. Fuck pigs in Mexican Spanish, as my wife told me. You also going to notice one little, cut here when they show the police shields. Definitely going to notice the three letters that they highlight the most as it's going across the screen. Sure thing. But again it's not making a political it's not none of this throwing in in your face. This is just what it is. And that's all that they're filming. They send people in there on their side to start to chaos. Yes to because it. Yeah. And to say that these things don't happen. Look at the last year man. What I'm saying you know, like there's no there's no political is like it's just it is what it is. So yeah. Like it's coming up like right here. This guy's gas. Boy. Yeah. There it is on the shields. Yeah. It's not it's not in your face, but it's also there. I mean, you just got it all right there. I mean, I see. Yep. Oh, my God, I love the skateboarders jingle. Yeah. And it's like it's World War three. Yeah, yeah, that's what he says. World War three big that love. This guy grabs onto the car. Yeah. I love that. This sensei I love that sensei in town. It's got you know he's wired into all the underground activities. Oh my God this scene is great. So this this was his very first day of shooting. Okay. This right here, the way Leo addresses this kid, he uses, like, a C word. Hold on. Come out. That's like a really, Mexican Spanish way to say, like, yo, bro, instead of being like, hey, man. So, yeah, he knows his shit. Leo does, at least. Enough of it. Benicio is not yelling at Leo. Hear what he says? Get off the phone. He's yelling. Oh yeah. So because people think Leo thinks he's yelling at him, but yeah, he's yelling at his whoever he is, his nephew, he's yelling at Esteban. But it's this all controlled chaos. Yeah, exactly. If you're. Yeah, yeah, he's yelling at estimate of the red hat, I get it. But Leo, it's like I'm like, yeah. And you know. And that's the thing though, like, if Leo knew that or not to be in character and perfect control. Go. Yeah, that's that's when you start to have fun as the actor in these things where, yeah, it's like that might not be the line, but you stay in it and and go with it. I'm not. What do you want to do? I need a charger. I told you, everything's okay. We got to move fast. Everything's going to be good, and we're moving. That's kind of it. But I mean it. The the whatever you want to call them Swat guys, the military guys are about to be in here any second. So if you listen like what he's saying right now, clean it up spic and span. Because when these assholes show up, we can't be here. He's just like, try to try to get in charge. Still, this class is still 24 hours. I love this shit. Like one room hallway staircase to another room that connects to another room. BA ba ba ba ba. Yeah. Again. It's all following that. The. This is what we're talking about when you like. You've never really quite seen a movie like this. Yeah that's what it. Yes yes I agree I absolutely agree the, the the never ending rope that this movie just keeps like on. We'll like what's the word like unwinding and yeah I mean it just going. Yeah it does. It keeps on threading and we're along in it. We're in like Leo shoes and the few breaks we get like when we meet up with the Christmas adventures again here. Yeah, yeah. We get little breaks which are good. And that's when the music tends to stop. But yeah, right now it's I love that introduce you to all the family. But even then when we dropped that scene, we're sort of like, where are we now? Yeah, yeah. Like, what the fuck is this? The pancakes introduced music gringos about to fucking hilarious. I love this out of my room, girls. Thank you girls. Come on out of my room. Yeah. Oh, man. I love when he says, I actually had fun with my wife. Like, I really wanted to know what Benicio said here when he's getting the money out because he says, glory out of yours. And I thought audio meant like by. But it just it means like glory, glory to God. Because he says, I got it, I got power. Glory are yours. I love that. But yeah, it's just it's like, I'm sorry, man. It's okay. And his glory are yours. Glory. And again like. And this shot to like he. This is such a close up shot. Yeah. On both of them. Hi. What's up? What's up? I don't know if you remembering. This tried to be like. He's trying. Oh. And. Yeah. And there's this. Oh, my God, did you feel it? Look at guys just like. Oh. This is why it's so funny is it's it's so painful for him. And he's about to turn into, like, a mini carrot. You know, I call it in a Greyhawk that I want to speak to your supervisor. I got this. Great, great. Oh, what I got right where? One years, years and years. Ghetto, Pat. Something like that. Because there comes few drugs and alcohol. I'm. I love, but he's still here. That he's got about to fly in a modelo. I love how you just answered me for a 1515. If that would help. Yeah. Yeah. And so it's just a cool the whole time. Cool, cool, cool. Like, relax, Bob and Violet just. We're on the phone. Are you? Well, let me ask you a thing. What is your name? Yeah. And when this is all said and done. It's not even a good name. It's name for a revolutionary. Somewhere over the stolidly. Oh, my God. And this is fucking tolerable, man. Yeah. There's no dollar. Picking prick, I love it. Oh, God. It all this codes. Codes began calling in a gray hogshead and that love you takes a sip. Yeah, I got it right where I fucking want them. Comrade Josh. I like that your wakes at him. Yeah. Oh, I got it. I'm looking for. I got right for them. Got you what password? You want one password. We've been laying siege for hundreds of years. Don't be so tranquilo. Oh. Yeah. Don't get selfish. I love this. But, you know, I love that so much because he's, he's so like like he's so, like beaten by in the first one. But then there's like a like in that moment of just like no like rejecting defeat, like man, like he's got to have the fight to him. Yeah, exactly. And oh my God, it's so fucking perfect. Latino Harriet Tubman from the heart. No cash going in the tunnels. Yeah, he's just on the fucking. They're playing. Yeah, they're playing the code song. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, which is kind of funny for a whole song. It's so great, Charlie. Oh, yeah. I love this guy's line delivery. I need to go kinetic. It's just great. Oh, the military speak. Again? You know he's not an actor. No. Absolutely not. It. No, there's no. Militaries are military guys. Yeah, yeah. Hi. I mean, he hasn't talked to this guy in 16 years. You know my brother? Yeah. The one guy who got away. You're going to know it. You're going to know it. Yeah I. I love the way Talley talks. The guy. You motherfucker. It's a war hero. Yeah. You're going to know it. Winner of best adapted screenplay. What battle after another Mexican hairless. Oh did he goes, he goes. Yeah. Who? Be nice. Give him directions. Be nice. Sisters of the brave Beaver. Oh my God, slow down. Articulate. I love the way he talks. This guy. Hi, brick. Be nice. I mean, I mean. Yeah. Hahaha. Hahaha. No. Whoa whoa whoa. I'm high prick. What was the answer, by the way? You little nit pick a great time doesn't exist. Mr., look at these shots of him does Mr.. Cool. Yeah, sometimes you're on offense, sometimes you're on defense. Ocean waves. And yeah, this is where they just work. You know? Yeah, they're right there. Right fucking here. Yeah. Battery falls up for the charger. Oh, yeah. God is so good. It's just so funny. Oh. What? Time to go. Bomb. I love how he just did. He just fucking hits the doors. Yeah. Feel like I love the crushing of the modelos. It's just a perfect little detail. And there's kind of a great thing. A fun question to consider. Like, does Sergio sleep tonight? I don't, I mean, he's in the same clothes. He's still drinking beer when he picks him up at the hospital. And so I just think he's been going at it all night. Yeah, well, he's got a lot to take care of. Yeah, exactly. It's not just Bob. It's. No, no, no. Look, what a great send off. Yep. Carrot. It's it. But but then he's like he's like yeah. Okay. You let's that power above. Yep. Damn it. Yes. The top is love. Oh, God damn it! Viva! Yeah, it's the way that he fucking, like, powers himself up like it's it. And that's what it is. Like you're in situations like this, all of a sudden, you need to muster whatever it is. Just a fucking act to get, like, leap into action. Yeah. I love these guys. Get me all your shit. No. Great cutting back to it. And the music just helps so much because you realize that all this is all happening at the exact same. Right? Exactly. Two independent. Well, two missions with the same goal. Yep. But is going on concurrently, I should say. Yeah. He's like, I'm done with you, but if you tell me the truth, right, you're out of here in 30s. So this this poor kid just cracks. He's scared. They are scared I love yes. I hate to look like you're fucking. Perry goes, I look like your parent. Kind of. Almost number. Oh, vibrate. Trying to save your fucking life. I mean, it's it's true. Now they know where you're headed. But then he tells nuns who grow weed. Yeah. I don't remember what Oscars it was. I maybe it was the one she was hosting, but Regina Hall, or maybe it was before that she was really adamant about PTA is my favorite filmmaker. I will do. And I mean, she even went in the press and she's like, I'll be in any movie of his. I'll do porn for him. She literally said that. She's like, I'll do porn. I love him. And then I love that that he, you know, puts her in this part. And it's a great part. Yep. You got that. We got to we got a signal. So he does ran splitsville. Well I mean exit bill. And this is what you hear from every actor that works with with him is like that. They and there's no bad performance in the PTA. Right? By any actor. If you really watch him like, like even like a lot of Haim and Licorice Pizza never acted really before. Ever. In a serious way. Yeah. And Cooper and like, you get, like, such a sweet, beautiful performance. So PTA he he must be an actor's dream in a lot of ways. I think you get to play a lot and there's room for improv. I love that he's like, I'll fuck. Can't keep up with them. This is so well shot to the way you could see like. But there's also got to be like a level of like, it's like Teyana Taylor talks about it all the time to where it's sort of like there's all that room for play, but. But like, you're not. It's it's serious business. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. You're not walking away until he has what he wants. And if you have to go back and reshoot it, so be it. And and you have to show up to every take like, oh my God, oh my God. See, I always wondered like, how do they fucking shot this? Because like, we clearly see there's no cutaway. Like, this is Leo about to approach on screen? It's it's very true. Maybe he was on some type of wire system or like, I don't know, that was always my biggest question for this movie was like how they do that did because there's no there was no time for that to be a different body. Maybe that could have been a little visual effects thing. That was a stunt dying, I mean, maybe. Yeah, easy to easy enough to do. But yeah, it is all held in one shot. I love this. What the fuck? You're. I fell off the roof, man. I think was where's my gun? You fuck you for the 40ft on stream in my rifle. Oh my God. And but but he but he like, he's. Yeah. Like he's, It's not stressed. He's just like. All right. Now I gotta now run away to get Bob. Yeah, but he says Sacred Heart that that's definitely the hospital. I think it's that church right there. Oh, where he is. I think he's like, you know, I'm here. Meet me here. We'll regroup. Meeting the nuns and grow weed. Hilarious. The safe house, which is not so safe because she had her phone on her. This is all her fault. Well, yeah, everyone makes little, little missteps throughout. Everyone's contradictory. That's what happens. Yeah. Music so going. But we slowed down a little bit. Yep. But it's so great. Like we have this break from Bob and then as soon, not as soon, but with one mention they'll mention him. She'll say like my dad or Bob at some point and we're just going to boom. Like hard cut to him on the back of the, of the car. So the girl sitting kind of facing us, but she's sitting looking at us. You see what the white you know how came higher. That's. And my daughter. Oh nice. Yeah. She's going to come with the the sage here soon. Look at this shot right here. Fantastic. That is the poor woman who has the unenviable task of interviewing Tom Cruise in Magnolia. Oh, Frank. Down, boy, take a seat. I'm quietly judging you, Oh, God, what a fucking scene. I love that film. Of her. Oh, wow. She wasn't a rat. Jason Finney is perfect skin. Look at that. Yeah. I can't wait to see the rest. You know what she does with her career? I love this performance. I watch Presumed Innocent on. I think it was on Paramount because she was in that, you know, ten episode show. I didn't like it at all because there's already it. Perfect two hour and ten minute movie starring Harrison Ford didn't like the show, but I wanted to watch it for her. And, you know, she was good. She's cool. She was Jake Gyllenhaal daughter, I think. I think she's, She's on a new show. At least I saw a trailer for something on Hulu. Ten minutes maybe. Oh, okay. I think she's going to be just fine. Yeah, I hope I hope she gets movie work like this. And not just shit. I love this one. We ain't got the internet. We ain't got. You know what? One thing that you don't see in this movie that I didn't notice. Talk about how we slowed down a little bit right here was when Benicio gets that call saying that, you know, Leo's got arrested, and he says, maybe you take her. There's a fade a little bit, and like, because you see, like the like, Vinny's ago. Her. Yeah. Right. But then that slowly translates like a sigh of the movie. Take a breath. Yeah. Because that's what we're doing here. And that's what we're doing here, is actually probably a good time to mention that after I saw this, you know, in the theater 3 or 4 times, this became my, my pee break if I needed it, because I knew I was like, okay, when they cut to after Sacred Hearts. And then I usually get back, like around this time just, you know, two hours, I mean, two hour and 40 minute movie. You're sitting there for three hours because the trailers. Oh, yeah. Yeah. She was a rat. And, Yeah. So much as, Man, her performance is all in her eyes, like the whole movie. Like, it's just so, so good. Here we go. So I want to say. Well, I have something to say. First. It'll blow your mind that I just found out. This, apparently is in Sacramento. And this house is apparently used to belong to former Governor Ronald Reagan. So the Christmas Adventures Club meet. That's the implication is that, like Ronald Reagan used to live here in his basement. The secret meeting, Ronald Reagan, the actor, the governor, and they went on to be president. Yes. The same. The same one. You know what I'm quoting? I know, come on, back to the future. Yeah, yeah. Ronald Reagan, the catcher. I got it, Jerry Lewis. I got a huge kick out of that. And I also love this whole. Yeah, the name is I love him. She's like, are you hungry? You always play like, oh no, I'm okay. But he's like, I kind of I love it. It's crazy. You. And you know, again, if, if people don't think this should exists, this should exist, you know what I mean? Like, just imagine a really rich cul de sac. Everyone knows who everyone is in the neighborhood and all you have this tunnel of all these connected, every house is connected, every room. And then when you get in this tunnel, this sounds crazy. Let's get this. But think of a cul de sac like underground. It could be literally like, just an underground cul de sac going these rooms could go to a secret office. Says he's going to do it. Could also go to everyone's home. I love how he checks his watch, like, am I on time? And it kind of nods. Like, all right, yeah, I'm good. And this was right about the time in my Vista vision experience where a lady ran up to the front of the movie theater and threatened with a bomb and threatened to kill all of us with a gun. Go listen to our initial pod, our review of one battle where you tell your, you know, race with death. And I tell mine that happened at the same time for completely different reasons. But yeah, what a scary thing that did happen right around this time. And then I came back and finished the movie. When the smoke was cleared, I love that I did not understand what that knock was for the first several viewings in my first viewing, a lot of people laughed and I went, whoa, I missed something there. It's jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle bells I didn't. Yeah, it's funny, I just didn't get that. This is very Coover to me. Oh, yeah. This location that set up, it's just fantastic when they ask the wide shot where they are all in frame, coming up, like, just barely is absolutely perfect staging. Look at that. Look at this face. Looks like he's sold his pajamas. What's cooking? Yeah. What are we talking here? And yeah. Like that shot that is perfect composition. Yeah. This was the first time I saw the movie. This is when I put everything together. I was just along for the ride. When I think this is where everyone does. Yeah. Yeah I mean if you caught on to it sooner, good on you. But I was like, oh, I well he's right there. I went, oh, what? Which race? It's bad. Which makes. Jesus Christ, there's no easy way to put this, oh, my God would just, like, staring down in shame. And D.W. Moffett, they're the one in yellow giving the talk. He was in the Friday night light show. He was, Michael Douglas's aide in traffic. He's had a long career. I've always really liked him. Sure. Again? Yeah, sure. Yeah. White background check. Double double Yankee white. You know, standard. What happened to what? Having a jungle policy. Oh, she's long dead. No more Rosie. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. We just got lucky. So? So now, you know, that makes so much sense. Why I didn't really pick up on that lockjaw thing was because you're just seeing these things happen. Yeah, and then you find this out and you're like, okay, now it makes sense why he started it. To know that from the jump. As soon as he leaves that meeting, that's what sets that's what's cooking in his head. Yeah. Yep. And now they're onto him. You know, he hired a monty. Not great. Not great. I love this little detail. He can tell you how much change you have in your pocket. Watch. Yeah. Those are those are related. Yeah. Oh, man. It's just so. Would not trust it. Not him. Yeah. Not trust it. You got to dialog. It's little words. It's not hard core. Racial you know, racism language. It's just little things. And it's even like. And he's about to say it here. Like giving, Right there. Right. Yeah. That's, look how simple it is. He's also refreshed. Really? He is really that to. Class. Oh, no. Yeah. And who runs the chicken Lincoln nuggets? So. Yeah. That rim horn. Oh. So. Yeah. That's. You get some. You you do get some. But you're also seeing how they are willing to let the people they view as less than them, like, work under them, you know, to for commerce. Security chain of events. Well yeah. And have they made it kind of clear that he did this all on his own. Yeah. Yeah, that's what that's kind of the hammer of the scene. Like he hit the high school. The high school? Like he's out here running all this. But then when the main guy talks, he got, you know, he got his dick dirty. He's out here making fools of all of us. Yeah, yeah, he's. Well, yeah. I mean, it'd be great to know what she was doing, but. Hello from the other side of the shadows. Oh, man. Right. And so it's stuff like that. So Jesus Christ. Yeah. Yeah. There's this meeting means we're going locked. All will not live. We are going to kill him. But however we can make it clean. But if we have to do it in our high rise office we'll do that too. Well, he's saying if he can. If he does, he lockjaw. If he succeeds with this, makes fools of us. Yeah, because he lied to us about this and he's pretending like this girl doesn't exist. Yeah. So just overall doesn't matter. Like, like kill the fucker. Yeah. One. That's. Oh, God. Oh my God. It's terrifying. It is. Or just ordering deaths of people. And this is like, lockjaw is a serious dude. I mean, he's a colonel. Oh my God. Well, yeah, they got that thing so creepy. And you look at it, too. It's like they're. They're ordering the death of a colonel of the death of a person just because it makes them look bad. Yeah, exactly. That's no real reason, right? Just because it's their club, I mean, you can't help but, like, not think that that's how this shit is. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. How much, all this shit is happening because. Yeah, she can work this bag. Look how high she. That's how high kick. That's no joke. Still in the same skirt? Yeah. Was she right? Yeah. Here. She's going to mention her dad, and then we're just gonna cut to him. It's been a little bit without Leo. Yeah, this is banging his head against this Peter Parker. Batman. Yeah, she was. Well, my dad. And there he is. Now, here's a question that I have for you. I actually thought that that he was actually trying to actually play crazy in order to. Not really. I think he right now is just putting on like an I don't give a fuck attitude. It's all hopeless. Like, I guess I'm at the end of my rope. I mean, they pick him up off the floor when he's asleep, so he's probably exhausted. So yeah, I think he's like this. I mean, you know, he's tired. Like he's. Yeah, hands behind his back. He's laying down. And then yeah, he gets this little signal that he said his name is Jim Parker. And she's going to very discreetly call him Bob and then call him a bad hombre, just like Benicio did. So I think, Sergio has his hand all over this town. Yeah. And he's just like, yeah, kind of over it. Out of it. Yeah. He's. Yeah. Bob. There it is. Yeah. Shake your head. Can't take it if you're diabetic. No. Yeah. No. He's bad hombre. There it is. I love this, just moving him through the system. Yeah. To the nurse? Yeah, to the nurse. And she's not an actor either. Nope, nope. You can tell. I love how he's just being. He's like, you're going to go right out that door. Yep. There it is. And who's waiting for him? Sensei? So that's what I'm saying, is sensei even made the bed. Is he displayed, you know, doing his thing all night, helping out, and then now he's got to go pick up Bob again, drinking his modelo. How did they know each other? I mean, outside of just his daughter being. And. Yeah, that's it. I mean, why not? Yeah. I mean, it's crazy that that Leo goes to him. Yeah. Yeah. They must have had some sort of, you know, connection and know trust sensei. And, you know, love. That's it's a brother. It's like a selfie. I know this selfie thing is amazing. He's got beer for. All right, we did it. I love that crusty Smith that loves the driving. Let's go. Oh, no offense. Let's play this series. To recovery. Twice in the same day. This is all one. One take all one shot. This whole scene here, it's great, considering how much we like change. So, like, we're gonna wide right now, and we'll be close on pen. Oh, just moving in. I'm not to be fucked with. Oh. Yeah. So good. But for now, this just what's in these hills. Oh. Oh, my God, what an introduction. Yeah. No, he fucked with, Colonel Steven, a little Juggalo. What do we fucked with this? It's got a sick joke on God. I'm not joking. Oh, God. He's great. I'm so glad he won. It just. It's perfect. I took vegetarian. Oh my God. Get us in those hills. Which he's gonna is fucking walk, man. Oh, this is perfect. Like you never really see this in a movie. You would have seen them, like, driving up, you know, and all the all them storming the nunnery. But it's just this. It's eerily quiet, like, what's going on? This can't be good. Yeah. And again, we're jumping right to it. Yeah. Like we know that they're coming. So why spend that time waiting for it? It's just already here. Exactly. And I love when we see like like she doesn't come back and like, they're already in the house. Yeah. We see the military guys next. Yeah. And they take her down and then. Yeah. Or big set piece with long shots. Such a terrifying like scene right here. Then boom. Oh my God. Yeah. You think you're safe and no you ain't. Yep. And this is all for you. Which must be a crazy, you know, thought she does. She's not really aware. Like, why would this all be for me? Yeah. Oh, this is a great scene. Just them. The lens they use for this is huge. I saw it like a behind the scenes picture. It's absolutely massive. Like the lenses. All the way over to where Penny's sitting, and she just walks right into it. It's literally like they it's that distance away. The camera's like next to pen. That's how she's able to just walk closer and closer and closer without cutting, music from the beginning. Yep. Pulling focus on this would be so hard to keep the focus tracked. She's probably walking that slow. Yeah. Because that's not slow motion. But it feels like it is. It does. I love investigating her. Sizing her up. Do you think you're my daughter. Yeah. Yeah. And one also wonders if she is ever been, given this information before. Like there was a guy locked, I don't know. Well, I don't think we owned this character. No, that's what I mean. Like. Yeah. Yeah. So this is all new to her. This is all I. And of course, I love this process of just seeing this done. You know, we hear this in movies all the time. We need the DNA test back, blah, blah, blah. Takes usually years. And like regular cases. But you got that military equipment. Oh man. All precise with it. This lines up. We got a problem. Oh, I love the disgust she has on her face just watching him. I also love it when he's kind of unsteady, too. Yeah, yeah, but when she's like, I don't care what the test says. You're not my father. Already have one. It wasn't some father. It wasn't much for your mother. It was much for you either. You idiot. Like she left on. She left you. Look out! You okay? He is. Yeah, but he doesn't like. He doesn't think that either, though. Like, you know, he's not. He's not that self-aware. That's what I'm saying. The contradiction. Contradictions of him. We got a problem. In future. Now, do you think she ever goes on to tell Bob? I don't know, maybe. I mean, you know, you have that in your back hand, you know, maybe or maybe not. I could see there's no reason to. Because he is the one who raised me. He probably does not know about this. No, you absolutely does not. Look, I don't think perfidy, had a conversation with Bob. No, nothing like. So I have to go and do this because this guy locked up, she probably only told Jungle Pussy. Honestly? Because that's in the deposition. Yeah, it came out in her, so I bet that's the only person she told. And she's dead. She has died 15 years ago. Is 1607. One of those don't answer for me. It's. I love the way he leans forward and laughs. Just messing with her. Count out. What? At this curb. Stop that. Oh, God. It's perfect. Yeah. I mean, she knows his powers. Well, get a pair. But how am I doing? Federal prison? Yeah. I mean, he's kind of saying, like, he's going to kill her. That's, you know. Oh, yeah. No escape for you. Oh, a great shot. Okay. I loved their little stand up. Did you love her. Yeah. Yeah. Look at that Jill. Wasn't best. She wasn't enough for you either, pal. But yeah, he doesn't have the insight. I love him, I love him got. He is fucking jacked, too. Yeah. He is. Yeah. I wonder if he took some shots. Why not? I can't work up to it. Yeah, I swear to God. Oh, God, I love him. Oh, man. So intimidating. Which isn't true. It's not true at all. No. Penn is going to kill her if she is this kid. But I also don't know if anyone else knows that, though. No. And thank you for bringing that up, because there is an A, there is an incredibly annoying and very significant line that is captioned incorrectly. I still haven't gotten Ahold of the script, but after the scene when he finds out that she's the the daughter and everything, what he says is take my gear, it's off camera. He's talking to one of his guys. I said, take my gear and put my kit kit in the car, meaning all of his military shit. The caption say kid, kid. Believe me, Lockjaw would never admit to anyone that this is his child. He does not say Kid Ivory Wellness a gazillion times. Turn the volume up all the way, he says kit kit. But it's a very important distinction because I'm agreeing with you. No one knows what this is about. No one. No one knows that she is his kid because that's the thing. If anyone knew it would jeopardize his induction into the club, he only admits it to her. He says, do you know what a Christmas adventure is like? Yeah, I have a higher calling you than than you. I love that I'm not her. Okay? No, you didn't in fucking barrier. Did you actually forget? I mean, he probably made up his own reality too. Yes, yes, yes, to cope with it. To cope with it because he can't admit weakness and. No way. Yeah. Oh, that's Sean Penn right there. And he can get to that anger man so quick. Oh great little line delivery. Shows it to her. And oh man. So yeah we'd have to listen really carefully. But it's right here I'm a. But it's because we hear door open on the word kit that it. And there's that long shot again. All right. Listen to what he says to the guy. Yeah. Listen carefully. Kit, put my kit in the car. He would never, ever, ever. Honestly, the first time I saw the movie, that took me out because I went, no, no, no, no, he would never, ever say kid. And then when I, when I got it on 4K and I mean, I turned that baby up on my bows and I was like, no, he says Kit. He said, Kit, wait. So there you go fans. Alex Withrow coming in hot fire and back at the captions. That's my hot take I love this that were just kind of slowed down a little bit. You know nice little nice little combo. And then past like. Bring it down bro. Don't go dark I mean but I won't. Home takes a swig right as it past comes back. He really means it. Yeah. Well. Yeah. I want. And we. Now we think we're doing one thing. Don't bring it down, bro. In his face. But he got a mouth full of the beer. Totally perfect for his character. No, they're not thrilled about the you know, Carlos has a plan. Sergio. Yep. I love that look. Yeah. Like, again. Like, it's not it's it's it's not like he's not playing the comedy. It's just so there's a shit. Is there to the road. Hello. Not for you, not for you. Game. Wasabi ocean waves. Did you keep listening? I love this at the count of four. Yeah. Three. Tip four. Here we go. You know, freedom is, so good. No beer like Tom fucking cruise. Left that jump at for. Oh, love the shot. I just love the color so much. Oh, yeah. Now go slow down. For Bob, if I get. Oh, but such a great kick. The balls. Oh, that camera on the roof that swivels like that. How many times must that must. That must have been quite a few. Yeah, to get that right with the police just barely seen in the background. I love this hot wires. It should eat. Come on, come on, you piece of shit. Here's some of his tactics coming back. Yeah, some of his old electrician stuff. You know, we could call that car a faint color. Red. A version of red. It lives in the home of. Kind of like a purple. Red? Yeah. Purple is related to red, right? In some form. Then the other car is going to be blue, and the other car is going to be white, red, white and blue, baby. Because this is America, I think that's two off of a blue. It will be a red. Yeah it is. It's not like sport red that's for sure. Not cherry red. I love that there's no hesitation when he gets to get his shot off. Like there's no hesitation at all. He posts up and fires misses. Well yeah, he he he he kind of fails everything. Like like every single thing is he's arrested. He drinks this. He I mean he kind of just barely makes it to finder because he's the last man standing. Exactly. It's really is I mean he doesn't take any of them out. She does. Yeah. The only the heroic nature of him, it's just that he doesn't stop. Yeah. He just going and he's facing bravery at every turn. No fear I love his daddy daughter games. This is the only time he mentions Christmas adventures because I think in his head he knows he's going to kill her or have her killed. Yeah. She should have taken that fucking roundhouse to her. To him. Well it's a little hard if you can't use your hands. You need those for stability and momentum. She could do it, but she'd fall down, too. Thank God I am a Christmas adventurer. Yeah. You're right. Like he's rewritten this narrative to convince himself of that. Because that's what crazy people do. Yeah, absolutely. And a lot of them. Shot at Caesar. His eyes. And I love the weapon. Just, like, gets in the car, you know, not even fazed that someone's taken a shot at him. Peels out. Taking her to a vanity. Waits for it. It's a good. It's a good, attempt. Not. I almost thought the first time that he actually did get shot and just kept going in the car. Same here. I thought it, but when we've seen that in movies before that. But yeah, like maybe he took one and just kind of because he is the type of guy, if you took one in the arm using the fuck no because he's not going to die from it. Right? He'd be like, keep going. Tossing the gun. There's a lot of like, not shutting the door when you drive off in the movie. So yeah, there is actually self it's kind of funny and they hook the camera to it a few times. But like here it's just going to vote. Yeah you're right. That does happen. Yeah I wonder if that has to be a PTA thing. It has to be like dad, don't close the door. Let the you know. Yeah, let physics do it. Yeah. Now and this is another scene I mentioned on our predictions episode, Oscar predictions that I do think when he's pawning her off to Vontae there, he makes a choice to. All right, I'll go to 1776. But. Oh, I love this book. Your fucking eyes out. She was a warrior. She. Yeah, he likes her. He respects. No. Yeah. He like, look at us. And your father both. Jesus Christ spoke your fucking eyes out when she was all fucking dirty on his car. Yeah. Where is she? Yeah, he doesn't really know where to go. Yeah, you're. It's a needle in the haystack. He. How's that look? Is always. Late. Yeah. Like looking at your dad. Look at this great spot. Yeah. Perfect. Looks amazing on a big Imax screen or a VistaVision screen which I got to do. Looks so good. There he is. Valente. The tracker. Yeah. He thinks he can just poner off to her. And this guy, if he gets rid of someone I think he probably it's, you know, a gunshot to the back of the head, maybe buried somewhere like it's boom, boom, boom. The 1776 guys are going to be different though. They're filling up their boat with gas. They got something bad planned. He knows that one thing at their fucking another. Look at. Yeah. What? How's the bounty business? But. The sound sounds far away. Yep. The echo. It's great. Anyway. And now we're closer. We don't. We don't have that echo anymore. Yeah. No. She's not. Yep, yep. Okay, okay. I can't do it. I'm busy. Eric Garrett. Gets done and then this. So I'm talking about. Yeah, I see, and I don't think he's 100% fully happy with that because he knows that's going to be a worse death for her than this guy would be. But but he's got to get it. He's got to get it done. This wagging his finger at her. Is where she takes him down to the damn fine job. Smart look like she was trying to get free. He's. Colonel lock. Charlie, I should say it's a good takedown. Oh, yeah. That's nice, but he's. Yeah, I mean, she's holding on. Yeah, she's cuffed and. Yeah, yeah. And this cutaway to him is great. Face doesn't move. He's not going to go and help this either arm. You see that. Yeah. Like that matters. It's like this is what you're dealing with. That's what your mother brought up. No, she wasn't around to. Which. This isn't true. No, not at all. Not at all. No. She has to be taken out because this idiot has a higher calling. Little child. Little bitch. Child. God, man. Yeah. I mean, it's all. Oh, God. Oh, God damn. Which is. These are great shots of her just kicking it. And then I love his reaction. You know, you got there's a whole movie within this guy. Like, he does not like delivering her, delivering her to these crazy looking dudes. But, maybe I don't know. I don't know if Bob is going to do that. He's out here looking, but I love the way he talks to these guys. It's like big, big truck. Yeah. I mean, it's like you got to make it the sound of that fucking car, I love it. I know all these guys are great. Big black truck. I love Ellie whistles, too. Oh, it's the best. I love that it's because he is a damn car. It's perfect. I love how she goes. Like when when this movie came out, like, oh, like the Latino community respected Leo because, oh, my soul. Oh, yeah. She's like, oh, here it is. Like, that guy knows what's up. Another one shot. This is all one take ending with maybe my favorite line of the movie. Let's go to work out of you. That's be small. There's. And this is his last scene in the movie. Yep. Come on. Yeah. Excuse me. He knows what he said. Yeah. No, no. It's perfect. Just perfect. Yeah. These shots, man. And out there searching for. And that this chase scene is really interesting because it's like do does do the people know who they're chasing? Not we see Tim the assassin here come up right next to Lockjaw. So he's you know, he's got it on him. And you know, who's this asshole? And he's about to I think the only person who knows that they're sort of chasing somebody is, is the is the hitman guy. Yeah. He knows he's chasing lockjaw. But the and then he goes on to chase the white car. So it's like, does he know that she's in it. Does he still think of auntie's in it. It's very interesting. It is. Does he think of Auntie and her and it. So just take them both out. And this is you know, we haven't seen this guy in a while and this is great. Yeah. No, this is the first time we're seeing it. And. Yeah, this is the vessel wearing his Lacoste window down bun by. And then look at this. Great shot. Boom. Again no CGI. Awesome. But then it goes to this assassin's competency as well. Like he doesn't get the job done. It's he goes down and checks on him and assumes he's dead. And he's not I know and you better have a good point because I'm like it's a pretty good assessment that he would be dead. But you're like, why not give an extra, like give him a tap on the head with the shotgun and then it's clean. It's dead. Yeah. But yeah, there is a there is an incompetency to a lot of these people, man. I look this guy up because sometimes you see people in a movie and you're like, those tattoos look awfully real to me. And these tattoos are. Oh, it says, relentless on his forehead. What? Who is he? I don't know, he's on. He's been in a few other faces like there. Yeah. He's he's in, like, not a lot, but he's on IMDb. He has a page. He's smiling in his pictures, you know, but I was surprised. And then I guess one of the. I think the guy that runs off the boat and kind of, like, kind of jogs into the house, I didn't realize this. He's the guy who is, kind of coming up and creeping at the end of Licorice Pizza that it's like, who are you? Who are you? What are you doing? You know, they see him at the restaurant. Yeah. I mean, this guy is so specific. Like, you can only play a certain amount of parts with something like that. Well, that's. Yeah, that's what I mean. Like, maybe it's parts like this or. But. Yeah, I mean, that forehead tattoo is a as a choice. And the Stooges on his phone, seven locks. All okay. Yeah. He you went down there? Yeah. He checked them out. Yeah, he checked it out, and it looks like he's fucking dead. Like they do that cut till does. Yeah. Then you're like, yeah, he's just looking for lock jaws car that huge. That's all he knows. It's like, well, why would there be this nice of a car out here? Yeah, exactly. Like like what does that does that have anything to do with anything. Yeah. And of course he has to think that she's in there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. And so now we're, we're not getting his the rest of that yet. Nope. We just slow everything down. And we again we join her like what is going to happen here. Who are these people. Nothing is explained. It's just very terrifying. Yeah. And I like that the movie doesn't it? We only really know the danger of where she is based on him of Avanti. Yeah, like because he's taking it seriously. Like you got someone coming for you and he, you know, he stuck around. He does not have to stick around here like, none of these guys make any threats to her. None of these, like horror that it's even scarier. Yeah, but, like, it's it's because of him making that choice. But then you have to wonder too. Like, when he does this, he's he he's knowing full well that he might die. That's what I'm saying, is that there's a whole movie within him. Like what led him to this point? To basically sacrifice himself to save her? I know, we don't know. I mean, that's the thing. It's like you have to, like, have lived this life for so long. You're like, I can't do this anymore. And maybe it's and it's these guys and it bad shit. And he's like, you know what? There was ever a reason for them to not be here. Why not let it be now. Yeah. Like I basically it's like I can't keep living this life. Yeah I mean he, he clocks when the three are inside and he's still got the one guy on the outside. So he's like all right let's do it 2 or 3 inside. And now we brought out the heat. Shotty. She she's probably like what the hell is this. Now what are you doing I know you hear me. Stole his phone. Yeah. Scrolling TikTok. It probably Crazy as killer. Yeah. He's in a bulletproof vest, too. Yeah. For that gun that big? That close. I mean, it would get to your. Yeah, I don't think it matters too much. Just the fact that he's wearing one. Just sitting there. Yeah. Just casually. Yeah. Part of his esthetic. Great move by her to get out of the cuffs. Oh, yeah. That's resourceful as shit. Great way to do it, too. And to not take a long time because like, you know, like on camera like something like that if you take too long because it's all going to be captured in one take, you have to cut because you're like it's taken too long, long. Hair. You got to wiggle around and do this all here. And I got to go back for the keys. And hoping that maybe he gets closer to the car like he walks out. Yeah. Some. Yep. And now of what a great thing too. Because as soon as we want to see what happens with Leo we cut to her. As soon as we want to see what happens with her, we cut to Liam. Best editing. Like dead. Like definitely looks dead. Gives him a poke. Dead? I'm probably unconscious. Yeah, sure. But yeah, she ain't there, man. Where'd she go? Oh, I love this. Really desperate. Like you just really believe all this. Oh, yeah? Well, he's gotta be, like, relieved to one point of being like. Well, she's not dead in the car. But now it continues. Oh these are great shots. My God. Just looks so good. I love this little calm before the storm. Like this is the most slowed down the movie's been in a while. Her like patiently going back. And then it's just on. And it's. She's like, it's so funny because she's so much more capable and resourceful than Bob is. And again, it shows more like to her mother, like, you know, she has that this revolutionary fight. Yeah, absolutely. Because this is all instinctual. And she's showing no fear in the face of real. No, she never cowered once she in the show, Sean Penn fear like no one. She was kicking the whole time in the back of Monty's car. Like, yeah, she's the one thing that she did was she lied about the about the cell phone. But you know what? I bet she learned one hell of a great lesson from that. Yeah. Got him. This would be a door shut thing. Yeah. There it is. Camera on the door and score. Oh, my God, here it is. Never seen anything like this. Never in my life I've never seen. I mean, this has to contribute to why it one best editing when it cuts away. How long they're holding each shot of the chase. When it cuts away, as Peter said, he's like, I can't believe no one had done it. I can't believe no one had gone out to that road and film something like this. Jesus Christ, this is brilliant. I mean, oh God. But pretty much every time I've seen it, I've gotten like, you get the the butterfly, the butterfly, even on this, even though we're watching on a computer screen right now. And you just got it on that. Yep. Oh my God, it's a roller coaster so low to the ground. And then when the camera's tipping up there. Yeah, camera's not stationary on the car. It would have to be like doing very minor tilts to catch that stuff. Well, and it's also like one of those things where if you've ever been down any type of like hill like that, you can't see the top of it. Yep. When you're driving. Yep. So yeah, this is a fun question. Who does he who does this assassin, Tim think is in this car? I assume he went down to lock Joe's car, assumed Lockjaw was dead, like Bob did not see the girl and now he's cruisin for her. So I think he thinks of auntie's driving and she's in the back seat and part of him. Making it clean, making it look clean is taking out her. So that's what I think. You know, I don't necessarily think he thinks she's driving. Who cares though. And then Bob will the only person that he would have interest in getting would be her. Yeah yeah. Oh my God, look at that. The suck. And the sound. I cannot fathom how long this took to do. The most impressive is when it's all three of them and. Oh, yeah. We see Bob in the background and right when he comes in her car. Oh, Jesus Christ, from food and the sun's in her eyes just great. Yep. Still there and closer. But she's driving to you know, she's cooking well and they're both in very fast cars. Exactly. Because if he can't catch up like Leo would never be able to catch up in this or. No that's, that's, that's the Mustang. Oh here it is. This is the shot to end all shots as soon as the white car goes out of frame. Who are we going to see. Bob Ferguson coming up from Ferguson to save the state here to save the day. And there he is Will. There he is. Right at the same time I did I did one of these, the theater, I jumped him. So I guess like that sold out theater. Oh, there he is. It's like almost as good as the Nebula in Star Trek two The Wrath of Khan way. Almost. Almost like that. Yeah, sure. Oh, look at this view. I want to go to this road, man. I bet a lot of people. Oh, I do that you would have the best time on that. I'd be going crazy. You'd ask me to fucking bring my car so we could reenact this as best we could. I would rent one so that we can. So, you know, rent it and get in shirt, get insured just in case. Get insured. Oh my God. Yeah. Mr. and Mr. Adventure and his Lacoste launch. And the sound of all three cars so accurate. The homes of the first two and then the the whizzing of his. Yeah. Leo's again. It's the, it's the capability of the other two and then Leo's this, it's like come on you piece of shit. Yeah. And she's still calculating. She's still planning. Like looking for where's a good place to do it? She's the one that comes up with this idea. Exactly. And then it's a brilliant idea. It is. She's smart as fuck. I saw this shot. I thought she was going to fucking shoot. I did too, when he turned the corner, I thought she was going to descend, like, naturally. Like how? Like because she's, like, broken to, you know, just a snap back. Yep. Boom. And then she's already positioned herself ready in case he comes out like she's ready to fucking waste this. She knows exactly what to say, and there is no hesitation. Yeah, he misses the first cue. Boom boom boom. Oh my God, look at Jesus. Oh. What? Yeah. There you go. She gave him the second time to say and he goes, I know. Boom boom boom. Fuck you. And we don't need to see him go down like we're confident that she she did the thing. He's down. And she's just. She fucking just kill the guy. And it it works that Leo would be able to stop because his car would not be going as fast as there. So he would have time to, like, actually stop. Yeah, he sees it. What to. Yeah, I love this. He just so like. And then there's our there's our little melody. You know he knows at the very least he is close to her tracker. Yeah. Yeah I really thought, man, I thought you were just kidding. Oh, I thought so too. And in the way he just like his face changes. It's me, it's me. Honey. Oh, it's so good. Best director, best fucking director. Best picture. Damn right. For the rest of our lives, I get to look at it, say it's going to be there. 20, 25 colon. One battle after another. Last year. The last three years have been fantastic. They've done very, very well. I'm proud of them. Great shot too. Oh you know it's immediately and he turns into a dad again. Yeah I mean just like he's happy. He's about to cry. Yeah. Like. Yeah. There's a lot of truth in what she yells at him too. Yeah. Who are you. I love that he actually says it though. Yes, it is. Yeah. She was an ass kicker with the guns, drive and just everything. She knew what was up, and I feel like that. I just kind of got an idea in my head of that line of shit screams, who are you? Is just really anger of Sean Penn. Yeah, yeah, like the whole thing. I'm just the whole thing. Like, she knows who he is. Like she and she loves him. But in that moment, it's sort of like I just found out you're not my dad. Exactly. It's a it's a layered line. Who's a profiteer? That's the name of the song. When, Okay. I'm getting emotional right here. I know, it's great. It's great. That's what the last, you know, hour and 30 minutes has been about. He had his mission when he got the phone call at his house, and he had to go find. And here he fucking comes a this is a guaranteed laugh line at any screening. I've seen it always. Once people get to what it is and he's still got the walk, he's got his fucking rifle, it's fucking coming. And where is he? Like, how far did you take him? Like, which fucking road is he trucked? He's doing the fucking shit night. Oh my god. And then this is just, I mean, my God, the way Tony Gold Woods all relaxed, leading back. I mean, they know they're going to kill him. They don't give a shit what he says, but the fact that this guy's so stupid, he doesn't even know that they sent that assassin for it. Yeah, yeah. Yes, sir, I believe I was looped in reverse loop. Yeah. This is hilarious. In this cockamamie excuse. Oh, yeah. Great makeup gentleman. Yes, a gentleman. I think is the enemy. I believe. Oh my God. And yeah, I've done all that adheres. The movie ends like this. Look at this. There go. Oh, that's a great shot. The lighting on the, yellow and then the green behind him. And then when we go back to James, sweetie, I mean, that's probably the hardest laugh in any screening. I've seen it in a semen demon. Yeah, coming from this guy, he's so sincere. Yeah, exactly as he goes, I felt, interaction. And there was some residue. I just. I don't know it to be true. I don't want it. Look at this man. There he goes. There it is. No good. Absolutely perfect. That's so great. That's correct. Keeping you in reverse. Oh, my God, it reminds me of, It reminds me of, Doctor Strangelove. When he's like. He's like, they want one in my essence. Yeah, but I denied her of my essence. Yeah. Oh, I love this reaction. He goes, oh, mommy. Yeah. Oh, money. He's a little boy. And that's really what it is. Congratulations. Like they'd never let someone as sloppy as you into this. Like you're, This is all he ever wanted. I thought it was great that the Oscars ended this way last night. Oh, yeah, this bit with Conan. Him leading Conan in. And, I love Leo talks about this, that, like, the one of the best choices that Sean Penn made in this whole entire character is that he walks into this Ikea office and it's and it's Paradise. It's Paradise. And it looks like I've been in so many of these offices in my life. Trust me. Like federal government offices look so much like this. There's nothing to them. It's cookie cutter. Everything is exactly the same spirit. No. Yeah. And this is what makes him feel this way is because I like. Yeah, like like all of that. Would you look at that? Like he doesn't just come in and go, good, good. Like he's he is. No, it's his office. And then even Sweeney in the background is still playing like he rolls his eyes at himself. Oh, damn. And I forgot your keys. Yeah. That's okay. Yes, sir. Oh my God, yeah. There's such vulnerability here. He can't believe it is. This whole entire life. With. Yeah. Just a I mean, it's nice corner office with double windows like that, but, like, you just get your basic PC. Basic office chair, like there's nothing. It's just the fact that he is in. He is. He is. Oh, yeah. Mommy. Yep. And they even say, like, we know in years no one's ever really here. You can just always have it. Yeah. We like our members to be able to, you know, take a load off. So some personal items and like the way he sits in this chair and he's taking it all in soft and. Yeah, I'm like God. And the first time you see it, you're even sort of wondering to yourself, like it's all of a sudden this idea arises, are we talking they're poison gas. Like it's actually happening. Yes, it is. Yep. Drift off in his sleep, go straight to the incinerator. Oh, my God, it's perfect. It's just perfect. Honestly, not a bad way to go. Peaceful. Quiet. You just, you know, you have your feet up. That's true. It could be worse. Oh, I love this. This is really the only time in the movie to me that when she looks at him and she's like, I don't know what it is, dad. She really looks like a kid for the first time. And she really, like, cares about him. And I love how sloppy still is. He's vaping in front of her. In the final scene, he smoking a joint. You know, she he just doesn't care. That's not part of his parenting. Hey kid. About we own about the hazmat suits from all your mom shit. Bet. Oh. So good. The. Oh. So good. And there he is. Cooking. Yep. And this is what makes this, like, the letter so good. I love it. Do you want it. I don't know what it is that she's so sweet. I mean I love that. Yeah. She does look like a kid. Yeah. The way she's dressed it looks vaping out of his nose. Well you don't expect him to change to like. Yeah. Well what do you like. He's still. Yeah. Yeah I think he's aware though. Of what he needs to do better as a dad. Yeah. But he's not necessarily going to stop doing what you know. Yeah I mean he lets her go. She you know you know that's three hours away right. Well yeah. To like let her become that revolutionary that she, that she wants to be. Following her mom's footsteps. Yeah. And and he knows to like, like perfidy. It was so much more capable. But the I think the thing that he trusts about her is like he knows what perfidy where her, her weakness was in her overconfidence and yeah little she, they made kind of a good balance for each other like you know, if they were both in it equally, maybe it could have worked. But she was like, so far and I'm doing whatever I gotta do. I'll kill bank security guards, whatever. Yeah. You know, and he was not on that tip at all. Yeah, he'll blow shit up with people when people aren't in there. But he's not going to. You don't want to kill security guards. But I love that we get to hear from her again. And I love that opening line. Hello from the other side of the shadows. And I also love what Peta said at the Oscars about this is about how this is about really putting the hope of the future of our world into the young generation. Yeah. I've always said this. You and I are very similar in age. It's like a couple of years in between. But like, I always sort of felt like when we were kids, the world spoke to our generation in a sort of tone where psychologists just keep your head on your shoulders, you know, get a job. You'll be right. Yeah, everything will be fine. That's what we did. It'll be fine. And I wasn't that. No. And I and I feel like as that adult now talking to the younger generation, I feel like it's up to you. Yeah. Like you have to, like. Yeah. It's not going to be as easy. Yeah. Just go get a job. You'll be fine. Like, it's not like it's not that like they told us just to follow the rules and just head down. Power through for us. It's like if you don't fix it, we're done. Yeah. We learned that, like, it doesn't. You can't just listen to, you know, the play play card from before. We all saw the generation where we had. We remember life with no internet. Yeah, we became of age when internet became. And that's, you know, we're the last generation for that millennials. It's it's interesting like but yeah he did touch on that in his speech. And it's true. And I think that I think that's why I really like this movie. And it's actually what I really like about young people generally in America that I've encountered, there is a lot of hope and desire to make the world better. They really care and we never cared. I know we never we never did it just it just didn't really pop into our heads because we were, we didn't have to, they seemed. Yeah they seemed to be more about like uplift activism and stuff like that. And yeah for sure I love this. I guess this is where he's such a dad, right? Yeah. And I guess he's recreating a Leo meme here because there's a picture of Leo doing that, like taking a selfie with it turned around, so not that, but you know, he'll turn it around and take it. This reminds me of my uncle right here. I know this is like. That is so funny. I guess that's fine. Yeah. Now they got phones playing with their phones. You say Oakland? Sergio San Carlos sticker. There. But yeah, he doesn't stop or doesn't say it's dangerous. It's like, you know, she's she's a woman now. She's been through a lot. She's been through a lot. She can be careful. I won't. It's raining out. Well yeah. I won't love it American girl. Used very well and silence of the lambs when we are introduced to the you know bills victim. A director PTA loves Jonathan to me and it's a great way to end. He said to her last night you were. You're my American girl. Yep. Oh, there it is. Fantastic. And the movie is so fast. God, it's great. Adapted screenplay supporting actor Sean Penn. Casting, editing, director. Picture those the Oscars. What a night, what a night. Well earned, well deserved. It's it's the. It's the best movie of the year. Undoubtedly. Yes. Yeah. It's us. And, I mean, God, what a thing. It's great. Cast is great. Everything. You know, I wonder wonder what it'll be next. But I'm. God, I'm just so satisfied with this film. And it was a great night. He's got to feel really good. Great shit. Huzzah! Michael Baumann, baby. There it is. There it is. Adam Sumner, you know, was the producer and he passed away. Andy Jordan. Yeah, that's your Jonny Greenwood. I hope he gets an Oscar someday. They keep nominating him. There she is. Casting Sandra. Oscar winner. Oscar winner. Never thought that would happen. I absolutely thought that was. That was. It was wild stuff right there. Really wild. And they gave him first an assistant director. No, that's what he usually was. Yeah. So this movie, this will actually end with you'll hear him his voice like on a, you know, I'm like, it's cool. PGA credits are usually pretty quick because there's not a lot of post-production. It's not a lot of visual effects. That's what, you know, makes credits along. And he was the one that sort of, kicked it to Leo and to to just finally do this. Yeah. Adam Sumner yep. Yep. Because because Leo and Peta had been talking for years about working together. I mean, Leo's obviously for everyone he knows. That was PETA's original choice for Legler. Yeah, exactly. And, and then, you know, it wasn't like a bad decision. Like a bad decision. It wasn't like a bad, like, right relationship. It was just I mean, he went he did Titanic and it said, yeah, it's. Yeah. And and then, you know, just talking about years and years of like, when are we going to finally do this? And then Amazon was like, all right, pull the trigger. It's time, it's time, it's time. And but then there was also Willa. It was also the first that's been finding her. And Pete is always said, and we couldn't do this movie right. Unless we found her. Yeah. And I guarantee you that she will be a part of PETA's next works. You would hope so. Because I think he really, really. I think finding someone that special in his eyes to be able to put this together is going to be. And he always he enjoys working with the same people. Yeah. I mean, Phil, John C Reilly, you know, those are the early ones, early ones, but he always works with them and DDL so I think, I think we'll see a lot of these people back again. I'll it'll be nice. We'll see. Well yeah. We'll see about that one. Yeah. See. And if he doesn't it'll be fine. We have. Right. We've got, we've got we've got a, have we got some gold. And in that relationship blood and Phantom thread. Yeah I'm satisfied. Fun shit. That went by really quick as a lot of fun. It always does. Man. This movie flies. It really does. Is my 13th viewing. I'm not bored at all cruising. Can't believe it won all those. Can't believe it. One cast and god, I was happy. Yeah, this is their their song, the code song. The revolution will not be televised. Yeah, I, I, it's just so much Sean Penn that's just, I mean, again, just the physicality that all of the things that went into it, it's such a well done performance really, really is. Especially knowing everything we know about him, that he's like the exact opposite of that guy with like, you know, the rhetoric and everything. That's not the causes he fights for it all. But man, the characterization he brought him was Oscar worthy. Well, he's always, you know, if you kind of think about like the, the, there's, there's, there's in him a fight for power. And I feel like that he can either be like the enemy of it, or he can be the one who's going up against it, like. Yeah, he has a lot of beliefs a lot. Yeah. And conviction and, and but even in like mystic River he's, he's at the, he's, he's the victim of it. Yeah. Yeah. He's like he's powerless. Yeah. His the love of his life has been taken from him. His daughter. Yeah. Yeah I think there's a lot in his roles that always kind of comes down to what is power and how can you fight against it or how can you be, the victim of it or be in his case, wield it. Because that's like literally it's shame you don't know someone without sway, without sway. And then and then you even see him like lose it like it's, it's it's, it's, it's perfect in a lot of ways for him. I mean, and you even look at his role in Licorice Pizza. I love him in that. He is fucking fantastic. Who said blow whosever? I'll share in to me. I'll share intimacies with you that I've never shared with anyone. You shiny, golden, inexpensive prick. You son of a bitch from hell. I said blow that love. No, he's so good. And that clearly feels like a lead up to this. And I love that. Well, because Sean Fat has said that he doesn't really necessarily care to act. Yeah, like, you know. So to see how much fun he had and Licorice Pizza and then this and then the because that because ultimately that's what it is it acting at its best is when these people are making such big, serious choices, but having so much fun while they're doing it. Yeah, yeah, Leo's the same Leo in this movie. He, he really, really leans into all of the things that make him so believable as being a fuckup. Yeah. And he always ends every movie with a dedication, usually to a director. But, you know, it's for Adam Sumner here. And then, you know, we hear his little a little voice. It's kind of funny. Yeah. Special thanks. His family. Yeah. Great film. So good. I love this director. Well, you guys, you really make a guy work for this. Seriously. He's he's he is very well aware of his body of work. There he is. Yeah. Man. Yeah. I mean, if that's the guy that's been responsible for keeping your movies, like, going. I mean, that's a that's a big loss. That's a huge loss. Yeah, well, here we go. I mean, thank you, Adam Sumner. Yep. Thank you, PTA. Thank you to the Academy Awards. Thank you to us. Yes. What are you watching? Because we're the best. We're the best.
