Hey, everyone, It's Alex with a very quick spoiler update. I promise we do not spoil scream six on this podcast. Dan tries and I bleeped it out at home. However, we do spoil the endings. Slash killer slash killers. You get it? Of Scream one and Scream two, which are 25 years old at this point. So there's that. We do talk about critical aspects of Scream three and scream five, but we don't spoil their endings in real quick. Real quick. Scream six. Opening weekend 44.5 million. That's the biggest take for a scream movie yet. Scream three did 34.7 million in the year 2000. Love to see it. Oh, and I saw all the wise ass tweets over the weekend. I saw them numerical lists of how the Scream movies are all the same. I could play that game too, with certain popular genres of movies. Oh, I could troll. I could troll. But instead, What are you watching? Is a podcast for people who love movies. So while this episode is not for the Scream haters, I promise it is most definitely for the fans. Let's go get it. Hey, everyone, welcome to What are you watching? I'm Alex Withrow. I'm joined by my best man, Nick Doe. So how you doing there, Ghostface Killer. That's the best you got. What an asshole. Last time he told me to call him fucking Nick. Ghostface Killers. Awesome. Well, no, because you want to call you Sidney. Why don't you give. How you doing there, Gale Weathers? Oh, as a low blow. I'm excited to be here. I really am. I can't believe that I'm actually saying that about these movies that we're about to talk about because of my, as we all know, my horror movie apprehension. Not too fast. Not a very good word. Yes, good word. Oh, thank you. But I have been coming back around to horror movies. You have? You have. And I've been enjoying myself quite, quite intensely. I love it. I love it. We had so much fun watching this. We do have a guest in studio in our nice Hollywood hills, Airbnb here. Dan Bracey is here on the podcast. If you listen to the Babylon podcast where you call in for about 10 minutes, but now you're here in person, how are you feeling when you talk about killer? Oh, wait, no, I'm not including that. I'm not giving way to start. Yeah, I love it. How are you? I'm doing quite well. How are you? How are you? How are you? We're all good. I tried to think of a nice intro and I panicked and went with the. The copacetic one. You know what I'll do? I get up and keep it out. I might bleep it out. You know, when you said, you know, I might bleep as perfect. Yeah, I could believe it. We're off to a great start here, folks. Is the best with the edit. Oh, I try. I try. Okay. Scream six. We just saw it like an hour and a half ago. What did we all think? I fucking loved this movie. I loved it. Did you like it, Nicolas? I thought Scream six was scream tastic. Did you like it better than Scream five? I did. I really. I think I did. I haven't even assessed that for myself. Daniel, What did you think? I screamed so many times. I loved it. I thought it was great. We had a really good commercial. It was great. The Universal City, AMC Skywalk, whatever the hell it's called. We had a good crowd. They're really into it. 1230 in the afternoon, Morning in the afternoon. Yeah. Had a drink or two. Loved it. Scream six. We all liked it. I love that we're coming in with a hot endorsement. We love this. It's going to be a somewhat tricky conversation because I don't want to give away the ending. I don't want to give anything like that away, any of that. People are listening. We can we can have an open conversation. I will edit stuff out, but I just want to keep that in mind. I'm not interested in revealing all that stuff because, you know, we're not monsters. We're not monsters. We want people to go see this shit. But I was nervous, like I was nervous for Scream five. You know, this. I'm like, Oh my God, I did not like scream for Scream five. I thought they crushed it. Thought they did a really good job. Now they're moving to NYC for Scream six. You and I, Dan have been talking a lot about remaking like Jason takes Manhattan comparisons, all this stuff. I mean, did you have like good hopes going into this about if you were going to like it or not? Truth be told, I was very excited for this movie. Regardless, I was more so excited to see it with you. Oh yeah. You insisted Where we sat down, we were like, No, you have to sit in the middle. I guess I wanted to see your reaction. We all had a great time. We were cheered. Yeah. Oh, is the whole theater doing like they're really into it? What about you? Expectations? Well, you just actually watch Scream five for the first time about a month ago. Yeah. Which you liked, and I did. So where did that make you, like, more excited for this, or were you like, it's too soon? Because, I mean, that shit came out in January 20, 22. Yeah, that's not long ago. That's 13 months ago. Yeah. Yeah. I literally watched Scream five in January of 2023, one year after it came out. And then remembering seeing the trailer for Scream six just fairly recently and being like, okay, that's real quick. Real quick. So either the options were is that they had this whole entire thing ready to go and this was like they shot it and then they shot the next one, right? Because you can't wait to see how good a movie's going to do, right. Without just kind of going. And so I thought expectations for this were I'm like, this could suck. It could. It could be too soon. What about you? Well, okay, so it is kind of following the scream one and two template is scream one. If I remember, I think it's September 1996. Scream two was December 1997, but they had already greenlit Scream two while they were still filming the original scream. So I don't think that was the case here. I think they needed to prove that five was going to be a hit, which it was. And I wonder if they had the scripts ready, you know, and they just took out. Neve Campbell Well, yeah, I mean, that's something we're definitely in to talk about. Like, did we miss her, all that stuff? Do you want to go go ahead. And it is the same writer directors. It is. They go by the name radio silence. They do it ready or not, with Samara Weaving, which is like a really cool, groovy kind of kind of horror film, like subversive and then they did Scream five and now, you know, they're doing great. Like, there are two really good inclusions to this series. They're doing really well by Wes Craven. It started with this whole thing, Yeah, if this is a franchise that's going to continue right there, it's in good hands with these people. Well said. I agree. Like we all kind of talked right right away when it was done. Like if this isn't a spoiler, I mean, this is their intention. Like, are we ready for part seven or are you ready for potentially part eight? I'm ready. I'm just going to pony up and go every single time. I'm so excited for this movie. And it just delivered so many levels down for Scream seven then. Yes. Yes. I thought it's very fun movies. They're very fun. I really enjoyed six. I thought I had better than five. Oh, no, you didn't say that. Yeah, I did it better than five. Really. I just thought I like it. I got a lot of blood and there was a lot of blood in this movie. Yeah, there was. We're going to. There were some. There were definitely new things for this franchise, and they obviously Hills stayed with the metal part of it, and we're like, it's we can do whatever we want because they referenced some of the spoiler. No, it's like, Oh, this is a franchise so we can do whatever the hell we want. Yeah, there's always that one big monologue in every Scream movie where, you know, it's like Jamie Kennedy does it in one and two and kind of in three from videotape. There's always someone who does it. And when they break them down, like that's why Ford didn't really work for me. Or three really. I mean, three is okay, but like five, they break it down really well. It's where we're being introduced like equals. Next favorite word? Yeah. This new term is here. It's here to stay. It's here to stay ahead of culture. Yeah. Sorry. Sorry, buddy. Sorry, buddy. Well, which is why this movie's movie's work. Yeah, Okay. I was just going to say that these terms were like, Oh, God, I don't. Is this really where we're going? Reboot, remake, prequel, all this stuff. But yes, these are two guys who know how to do this right and do it correctly and really honor the fans. We talked about it and we talked about it after the movie that if you're going to do a reboot, you have less of a chance for it to be good. But the sequel pulls from the legacy. Yeah, it's true. Like don't hard sell, like start the Scream thing over. Yeah, Have some legacy characters in legacy characters. I thought that worked really well for five. I don't want to assume that everyone listening to this has seen five, but what they did with, you know, they bring back Jeff Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette. I thought they really did well by them. And the you know, just the the conclusion of all their characters in that film. I thought it really I thought they did a great job. And I was really excited for, you know, Courteney Cox to come back, but a little bummed when we heard Neve wasn't. But yeah, yeah, I didn't think that I could have fun in a scream movie like I did with the first one and to some extent, the second one when like when they came out, I know we had a whole podcast that we did on Scream one and Scream two. We did, and I very much enjoyed Scream two upon second viewing. I think the first time I wasn't so big on it, but the first one I was a huge fan of when I watched Scream five, it was as fun as the original Scream game. That's a really good point, man. We never thought about that when I was watching Scream five, especially after that first well, the first attack, I'll say on Jenna Ortega, I was like cheering Not because she got attacked. It was just so believable. And like, honestly, I was, Oh, my God. Like, they're really, really going for it. And I did that. Tim And that's a really good point. Watching Scream five, I guess I got the most joy since seeing probably the first scream. Yeah, And I love too, though. I mean, I really. Oh, yeah. But yeah, it's great. You know, like if you're not that big of a fan at three and certainly four like me. Yeah, it's just great when they can. Like you're saying, they didn't reboot, they did this. Whatever. Well scream five, I mean it pulls so much from the first one. You feel so comfortable with it. Exactly. It's pretty much, I mean, terrible comparison. But like, you know, The Force Awakens, we're going to say it was going to say Star Wars Episode seven. That's not the house, which is handled better. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's pretty much like you said. There's like A Force Awakens. It's like we're going to face a bigger Death Star, this work. This is like work better in Scream five. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, okay, we got our reactions, though. I do kind of want to know we've kind of touched on this, just everyone's general thoughts, like on the franchise. It sounds like we're all fans. I do. You know, I want to know. Nick, you and I talked about this on The Scream and Scream two podcast. Like, I've been a fan since Scream one. I have always loved them. I've always followed them. I was really confused when Scream four was announced because I thought the three I thought it was just done. But yeah, I am obviously a diehard fan and then coming from you like you can tell us a little about this horror revolution. You're only on a little bit. Yeah, you could, you could talk about it a little bit, but I just want to know, like you're kind of remind people of your relationship with this franchise specifically. So the original scream that came out in 1996 as a kid I couldn't get enough of. I watched it on videotape over and over and over and over, and then Scream two saw in theaters with my uncle. And I believe my mom was there, too. And it was a great time. Yeah, but I still I don't know, for whatever reason, I think I got sour. I had it in my head that I was like, Laurie Metcalf. I think I spoke to that our Yeah, yeah. I mean, a lot of people I think do have issue with the two killers in Scream two, but I love them. I didn't really like it. I remember even that was 97, like seeing it going, Oh really? That but on repeat viewings, I'm like, No, she's a really good psycho. And she is upon rewatching it, I really enjoyed it. Yeah. And then I saw Scream three in theaters and I saw Scream foreign leaders as well. And three when it scream, three come out 2000. So 2000, I was still into horror movies, but I really did not like it. I know I was, but I have not seen it since. So I can't stick by that ruling and then Scream four I saw with Diane over here. Oh, really? And our other mutual friend. I don't remember seeing scream for it with you. You weren't there. You were there. You think he's going to remember this shit? I'll take your. I'll take your word for it. Oh, God. It is a rare we talked about two days ago. Well, my memory, my memory loss aside, was he a fan of the movie? Do you remember when? No, I. Okay. Okay. If I recall, because we had a mutual friend. When did we. What year did it come out? 2011. Yeah, it. We saw it at the marina across the. Are you sure it was me and I. Well when you get to my franchise list, I will tell you I am unsure I was with you and maybe I could be wrong. But I do remember there being four of us and I do recall you. And it really feels like you were there because we we were not thinking this movie was going to be good. And our mutual friend was somebody that was like, I can't wait to see this movie. It's going to be everything I want it to be. And then it was what it was, and we thought it was horrible. And then he was he stuck by his gun. I loved it. It was everything I wanted it to be. And we made fun of him for it. Is that any That sound familiar? Is it my turn now? It is your turn. I want you to tell me about the Scream franchise. Your relationship with this girl. I didn't see. I saw Scream one through four for the first time in 2017. Oh, so you were not there? I don't think I was there. I believe it was 2010. It was the hammer dropped. It was. It was initially believe it was. I saw them. I flew to the Chicago parts to have a weekend with a woman. And she loved the Scream movies. I'm like, I've never seen them. And it was around Halloween time. So we watched all four. Okay, I think. Yeah, all four in a row. Or it was 2015 and they hadn't come out yet, but she was obsessed with them. Okay? And I watched all of them with her. And did you like them? I did. I was like, I was glad. It's one of those they reminded me recently I can I can relate it to the first time I saw the Blair Witch Project in theaters ever. I saw the director project couple like a year ago in theater. And I'm like, This is incredible. I'm so glad I waited. Oh, that's right. That's right. I'm really glad I waited. Had never seen No, I'm really glad I waited to see you scream at like the age I was at. Not because I needed to be older, but I just really appreciated it more. It didn't feel dated. No, it doesn't. Now it holds up really well. Yeah, but no, I. Are you going to talk about this fucking theater thing again? This is this year. Raise your hand if you raise your head. We let you speak. Yeah, I know, but I got accosted. You did? I did it, Constance. I did. I was. I guess. Is that how you feel about Titanic? I watched it the other day and. No, you just shut the fuck up. Never see Titanic yet. Never seen Titanic. Okay, So I don't know. I really like I honestly don't remember. Four. I've only seen it once. I don't remember it. All right, I'll do breakdown. Not not like I'm not going to do in depth. Okay. I mean, scream one. Everyone knows that it Woodsboro. They're getting high schoolers are getting haunted. Scream two The ones who survived all go to a college and they filmed it in Georgia. I guess it's supposed to take place there, but they all go there and, you know, terrorize again. Scream three is in Hollywood. Now, what's really interesting about Scream three is made in 2000, but that movie holds up really well post MeToo because there's a lot of content in that about casting couch about, Oh, I had to sleep with this person to do that. It just it it's kind of a cool document in that way, and it seemed like researching it. Wes Craven was like really intent on that, on kind of honing in on this stuff and calling out people without really calling them out, you know, just doing it early, like 17 years before all that stuff broke. Scream four We go back to Woodsboro and now you know Gale and do we're married. Do we still cop nerves around two and then one Just so weird to me. Like they tried to introduce all these new characters. I get it. You're bringing on these young kids, and I didn't not think any of them really hit the mark at all. And I thought it was weak. I never believed who the I never believe the end of that movie when it when the killer, I'll say, is revealed. I was like, okay, okay. That's why I mean, that's what we've talked about it already. Scream five Insects six. The characters have so much depth. Yeah, they're so lovable. They really. They are. They're funny. They like they're into, like, the culture of now and they explain it really, really well. And it's just kind of been entertaining and it really keeps the comedy well. It does the comedy horror very well. Yeah. Like even like when certain characters obviously use screams, you're like, oh, at least every character are going to get stabbed. So it's just like, at least when some characters get stabbed, they joke about it, right? And it just keeps us, it keeps that, it keeps it light, but it's violent. Yeah, yeah, it's a good balance of that. I agree. I agree. And then Scream five, you know, we get introduced to new characters. We don't really know how they're connected to legacy characters that's revealed to us, but they also brought back, as we said, they brought back Neville. It brought back Courteney Cox, David Arquette. And one really great thing about Scream five is that it handles a lot of exposition very well. Very well. Yeah, you're right, because you're introducing all these new characters and you're getting hit with like the sisters, and then you're finding out as is going on, Oh, wow, this is really Loomis, his daughter. Right. And she's moved away for however long. You know, a lot of this can be really tricky to navigate. It's just been pouring. It could be really boring. Well, it could come off really bad, right? That bad movie. But it doesn't it you're following. It is fun. Well, the scene, I think that sold Scream five for me was the scene when they're all in the living room and like Jamie Kennedy, portraits on the mantel. Yeah, that's. That's Randy. Yeah, I know. I know, I know, I know it is. But I'm saying that scene when all the characters are there and they're just like, calling them all out, it's like that is when you really get to know everyone. Yeah. And it's like you're doing a really good job. I mean, they're like taking the piss out of it. Like a killer could be you, you know? And we get that again in Scream six. This time it's like in the park. Yeah. I'm going to do a quick. Yeah, yeah. What's the line that they say to the Dewey when like, oh he's, they're like they accuse him like, well how do we know that you're all this trauma you went through. You know, going your wife left you all this stuff. Like how, how do you know you're not the killer? And it's like, well, that hurts. Or maybe you're the killer because that could. Yeah, it could be so good. It was so good to see you guys share a laugh. Oh, this is so good. Oh, good. I loved him in that movie. I really love how he stole it. Like he did. He's great. Where? That one Across the board. He really rose. Yeah, He hands everything, and he's got his little theme card. I love that theme of his. They brought it back for Scream. It was such a good moment. Yeah. Now, there, now. All right, Scream six. I want to go quickly through Tara Carpenter. That's Jenna Ortega, who's had when I saw her in Scream five. I never heard of her and never seen her. Now, like, what, 13 months later, this is like one of the biggest stars in the world. And crazy how that happens. It's huge. She's moved to New York City for college a few of her friends from Scream five have come with her, namely the Meek's siblings, Chad and Mindy. Mindy is usually the one giving us those big exposition dumps, and she's great. And yeah, those are the two related to Randy Meeks, Jamie Kennedy from Scream one and two. But if you give away, are you carrying if you're giving away Scream five survivors? Well, at this, I mean, anyone watching the trailer is going to get that. Yeah, that's true. Okay. Okay. I mean, we have to just cover. Yeah, I mean, we have to go into it like I'm not I'm not like, outright saying yeah, stuff, but I mean, yeah, like, that's, that's part of the thing of talking about the sixth movie in a franchise. You have people you know I don't know, I always want our pods to get to like motivate people to see a movie, but they don't want to push it too far to where we're just giving everything away, which is like, this is a weird one cause we're talking about a horror movie. Of course. Yeah, it's not really. It's part six, all that stuff. But in addition to Chad and Mindy moving to New York, Tara's older sister, Sam Melissa Barrera, has tagged along to New York to keep up, to keep her eye on baby sis, which baby sis does not appreciate. Ghostface, of course, is back, is a manic fucker running all around New York City, stalking terror and Sam killing like anything and everything. We can talk about that. It was pretty badass, you know. Of course, some new characters are introduced. We get some legacy characters that are brought back, though not all of them. Another aspect I liked a lot of Scream six was they really use. We're talking about like, I hate the culture. They really use the culture against Sam a little bit because yeah, there's been like this internet spin that has gone viral that she is actually the mastermind behind the killings and Scream five and this is like well known was like cancel culture. I don't know. They were trying to play off of that. I think so a little bit. They were definitely trying to play off like assassination, like character assassination culture because she's getting like drinks thrown on her in the street because it's there's this wild conspiracy theory that, yes, she's actually the mastermind of it. I did not expect that. I really included all that. I really appreciate it all that rather, if you think about anything, anything that happens all of a sudden, like you could have the story in the way the times work now is like, here's the story. And then a little bit later, Wait a second, here's the other side. We're going to take the complete opposite point of view just because you can these days and then spinning and then try to create a brand new drama out of it. And that's exactly what happened to her. Yeah. Yeah. And that's honestly, like, as much plot as I need to get you to. Like, you get the idea. I mean, it's, you know, if you've seen one of these movies, just the Ghostface running around trying to pack them up, but I want to start with we kind of touched on it, but did we? How badly did we miss Neve Campbell? Because I didn't. Yeah. Like going, going into it. Going into it. I was like, I, I even did it. Tweet about it like this isn't cool. Like give her the amount of money she wants I hope day You know I talked to this on screen pod like I hope there are going to I don't know I hope it works out and I was nervous but they handled it really well. It was I don't want to say how, but they had it was the way they said it was the best they could have done it. Yeah. And they gave like Courteney Cox a little. They even punched up, punched in for the close up of her to give like the selling line. We're not going to say what it is. But they handled, you know, Sidney Prescott. And I'm like, well, I'm honestly okay if she never comes back. Yeah. I mean, that could happen. It could be weird. You know, Neve Campbell, the actor, just is hanging up the Scream films. It's kind of in her statement, it kind of sounded like that she's saying goodbye. And, you know, I almost agree. Like, I don't think we need her anymore. I think this new cast and the new direction of this whole entire franchise now, as it seems to be, I thought I'd Courteney Cox did a great job of like not holding the legacy part of it. But I mean, yeah, that's such a great job. She's just holding that like she did. Not that I didn't even think she had the weight of Sidney. I know. It was just it worked so well. Yeah. Without it, she wasn't even in it that much, honestly. No, but she brought her in. And I like that when we're introduced to her because, like, she's kind of. She's been a little reclaimed in part five. Like, we're not supposed to look at her in, like, a negative light in the first time we see her scream. Yeah, she's back to, like. Yeah, but I mean. Gail. Yeah, yeah. But it's also but no, she, she was there for exactly what she needed to do. Yeah. Yeah. And I wasn't upset about it. She carried the weight of the legacy. Well, yes, she did. She did. We have another legacy character. I'll get to it, but let's just start like diving into the movie a little bit and not, like, without giving stuff away. But yeah, I mean, we can every Scream movie starts with, you know, phone rings and it's typically as we all know, like the person who picks up the phone is going to be dead. But that's typically, you know, the way but they're usually answering except scream five, which it didn't happen. Exactly. I mean, I think they tried to, you know, ice her out, but she survived. Yeah. Jenna Ortega. But, I mean, when you're watching that, what do you expect to do? Yeah, when it cuts out, you're like, wow, that poor girl. But this but the Scream six cold open was super long, super long, longest and only one that's been in public. Because what I was going to say is the people who get these calls are in, you know, home or I mean, Carlton weary in three gets it in its car but still like it was Yeah I got it got very helpful but this one it's like the phone is ringing in a restaurant in a bar And I went, Holy shit, where is this going? And I think there's some talk online about how like, is this the best? You know, it's called Best Cold Open for a Scream movie. I don't know, but it was really fucking cool. Yeah. It's not better than Drew Barrymore to be like that. No, Some people say the The Scream two one in the movie theaters. Oh, that one is really cool. It's so dark because the people are like, cheering when she gets on stage and she's all cut this shit. Well, yeah, because they killed Jada. That's why it's really good. So you can cut that part. Everyone call them a bitch. So keep her name out of your fucking her out of your cut. You're going to cut that? I don't know. Yeah, that's a good word. So it's. It's hard to talk about the opening scene, but, like, it it really subverted everything you think you know about. Like where opening scenes in a scream film are going to go. And I really, really dug it and it was really long. We're talking like ten, 15. It felt long. Yeah, Yeah. But it also felt like it did something very fresh, very new. It takes you on a ride that wasn't expected. Very confused. I was what I wanted, which is what I went through. You know, I was like, What? What the hell is this? Like, what is going on? And then it. Yeah, the payoff of it. Oh, my God. Which is really good. Tough because these days now, like this is what audiences are like going to see. Like they, they now, if you're going to go see a scream movie, you better like confuse them or throw them off the rails because the expectations is so high, right, that no one is going to be a fan if you don't deliver something brand fucking new. And it's so hard to do now. But I also did it. But I also think one of the best ways to see a Scream movie and we talked about it before we saw it, is that you have to go in there. You have to go in there not giving a crap about who the killer is going to be. Yeah, don't even try to guess it. It's true. And I was fooled a few times. I was. I was. I was like, there. Oh, well, right. You know, and I think I've realized something, actually, after watching all of the movies, every time the is revealed, I'm always like, let down a bit. Like, not really. Yeah, always. But. But ultimately, it doesn't ever matter because if they find a way to justify it, I'm like, Okay, I get it. Yeah. But every time I'm let down because I'm like, Oh, that's who it is. That's what they're giving us, okay? And then they give us the reason. That's the big thing. It's like we have to get the Ghostface explanation. You have to get the explanation. This one, I felt the exact same way where I was like, okay, all right, that's what we got here. But when they brought it all together, I'm like, I think it might have been my favorite outside of maybe even the first one. Oh, wow. That's a big one. No, the first one's the first one. That can't be that. That was like the first time there were two. Yeah, like, I had never seen that. And just like Stephen Stew are not Stephen Stew. Stew. And see Billy. Ed Stew. Like you can't beat that. But this might have been my second favorite of all of that. It Yeah it did a good job I really Well it was a fresh way to do it. Yeah. Yeah it was. And I was definitely surprised. I was like, okay, I hear what you're saying. There's a little there are other movies when other screen ones, particularly to when I was like, Oh, okay, I guess three is a big curveball. I'm like, Oh, but then yeah, if the justification is sold well, yes, then it's all good. That's all good. And four is the only one where it wasn't sold. Well I think I guess I also think two works really well because I think Timothy Olyphant just is incredible. He's got to love the freaky Tarantino films, dude, I fucking love him. It wasn't peak of fun, but he was. It was right off on that. He was great. But yeah, let's go back to that point you brought up. I do think there are two ways to watch these movies. There are a lot of ways, but you can sit there trying to actively figure it out. Yeah. And I mean, I'm guessing throughout. Yeah, I am too. I'm putting up little guesses, but if you say, like, and you're trying to track everything, I don't think that's the best way to do it because you know it's going to be revealed like, you know, someone you already know. Yeah. You know someone you met and it's like, okay, there's not that many people it could be. So just wait for them to show you and they will. Yep. Not going to leave it a mystery. No. Yeah. So the opening. Oh, God, that opening was really cool. And then I'm trying to remember, you know, we did just see this. I have a few notes here. I think the next, like, really, really cool scene is maybe my favorite scene in the movie where Tara and Sam, they just go out there, they have to go to a crime scene. They've been called. I'm not going to get into what it is. And they go out on the street and they get a call from Ghostface and I'm like, And they're like walking in a New York City street. And he just bum brushes them. He just comes up and, like, attacks them. Yeah. And I'm like, What? And they run into a bodega, like, Oh, it's a great bodega. And, you know, they're running in, like, to scare girls or someone trying to, you know, the typical New York guys fucking line here. You know, Ghostface walks in and you're like, and you know, the guys, what are you going to do? And you just it's it's like carnage. Like you said. And this is the first time we've seen Ghostface take out randoms like that is, that's a different Ghostface beast they usually stick very closely to and what's going on the one thing I really appreciate about this was that they brought a gun into the mix. That's what I'm saying. A big shock, Yes. Yeah. The guy working at the bodega, like everyone freaks out obviously, and he almost gets you gets a shot off at Ghostface misses and then, you know, that gun is taken and now Ghostface has and he's like and Ghostface is walking up and down the aisles like a surgeon with the shotgun, like hunting them. That was just so tense. I was like, Oh my God, I don't, I don't. I've never seen this in a scream movie before. Really cool to see him taken out. Yeah. You know, randoms like that. It was shocking. It was. It was a really, really it it kind of reminded me of, like, the the fear that I felt in that scene was similar to the fear of the scene scream to which one? Where they're locked in the car and they walk over to the next. That's the best scene in that. No, that's great. But see that scene actually, I think there's a direct comp to the next scene in Scream six and I'll talk about, which is the apartment and the ladder like that going on that ladder. And again, we're not revealing all the details that really remind me of that tension of having to like yell through the scene, through. But yeah, them hiding in the aisles of that bodega like I like when these movies really slow everything down and like, they took out a lot of like the crazy sound and you can just do like, seems like it would dig a fall along. It did, Yeah. I mean, they, they took their time with it. It was this is a point that I think I brought up on our previous episode is that when you're doing a horror movie, sometimes if you just kind of limit it to like a really simple sure thing. So like physically, like in this scene, they're stuck in like two aisles with with a person with a gun. Yep. There's a person who is high visibility and low visibility. Yeah, it's simple. You just have to figure out. And then the ways that they try to throw him up are also simple, right ladder. Yeah. Again, without giving too much the way that they use the ladder, it's it's such a simple thing. Oh we have to get from A to B. Yeah. But in between that and then the surrounding circumstances are so crazy. Yeah. That, but you're still looking at just trying to get from one place to another. Yeah, but same thing with the car and screaming. Seems like it would have to get out of here. Through here. Right. So but for those particular two things matter. And the car, it's. My head's going, okay, I know the destination. I know what's going to happen. I just want to know how we're going to get there, because I know this person's going to die. Sure, sure. It's very obvious for and for anyone watching either movie, either scene. But yeah, I want to know how it happens. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's that tension. And then, like, they subvert those expectations, like, you know, like obviously when the roommate two climbs out the window, he's going to start stabbing and then he doesn't. You're like, Oh, my God, Yeah, But his screen, too, they both get out of the car and it's just you don't expect that to out at all. That's what I'm saying. Yes, it's crazy. And then so with this one. Yeah, we're being I want to be a little careful of details. One thing that's cool about Scream six is he keeps popping up, Ghostface keeps popping up in places we don't expect, like in public. And then now there's an there's an apartment brawl, some apartment carnage and yeah, and a ladder is used. He's kind of broken out to help him escape to, like, another apartment building. And it's so tense and like you're saying, Yeah, so simple. Yeah. It's like we just got to get across this thing. Like, can we do it with this, you know, crazy killer trying to break the door down? Oh, I loved it. Really, really tense. And, yeah, they're honestly, like, I'm just thinking about so many different, like the Courteney Cox scene. Talk about let's open it up. So, I mean, there's one particular scene where where Courteney Cox, I don't want to say too much because like the whole idea that she gets a phone call for the first time is a big deal. I like the legacy characters because they don't give a fuck like they're so over it. Yeah, they're like, fuck, Like, they're not scared. Now she's like, when Gale has her Ghostface moment, you know, it's it's going to, it's going to happen. Like there's going to be a showdown. She's not afraid of it. She's like, All right, cool. I'm putting my laptop down. Like, What is it? Give me the phone. Yeah, give me the phone. What do you want this time? And and I thought that scene was just tremendous. I got it. It really. I get these scenes kept topping themselves. Yeah, they really action scenes were in here were so good. And then the in-between story the substance of both scream five and Scream six is really, I think, what sticks out. Yeah, those exposition scenes really stick out. It's so much fun with them and they say everything we're thinking. Like they look at the new roommate guy and they're like, You're at the top of my list, buddy. Yeah, you're the top. Ghostface They break down who like everyone in their friend group that they could be. And yeah, that, that glue really holds them together because you're not bored waiting for the next Ghostface set piece. You have to usher in this one really takes it like because we're introduced to these new cast characters and five and five positions, everything to where any one of them could be. Yes. And then when it all is said and done and that's now over, we're left with who's left in this one. And you really feel the friendship dynamic between them. Yeah. So now you're carrying a lot more, I think in a way with this one, I cared a lot more about this core group than I did of, like the original ones. Interesting. Well, I, I think I think that might be because they're much more vocal that they're a group in. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. They're like, yeah, you together. They never said it in two or three. No, not really. It's, I mean it's always like, yeah, Nev and Woodsboro survive. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But obviously in this one they like they coined it. Yeah. Yeah. So, and they band together in two. One, two and three. Well, two and three really, because that's where like it continues. But they do it out of the circumstance, not because they actually stuck together. Because it's because it's true. Scream three Correct me if I'm wrong. Sydney like full on bad ass in the movie. Well, no, she's like, she is gone. She's like living in she's in the she's in the trailer. She's in that trailer. No, no, no. That's like Dewey lives in that trailer. She lives in like Northern California, but she's been like training. She's been like, has a gun. And every there's that scream for No, she I'm trying. She's not like a bad ass in Scream three or anything. She scream four. She's a little tougher. She, I actually I thought it was more badass. And part five, she's like, Fuck it. Here I go. Oh, she's five. She she's like, Of course I have a gun. Like, I'm Sidney Prescott. Of course I have a gun. Yeah. So, no, she's not, like, training or anything like that. Yeah, it's nothing. That's kind of been the whole thing is, you know, she's just ready. Yeah, she's ready. She, you know, kind of expects it to come around. What other scenes, though, in Scream six? Let's, you know, whatever we can think of, I think the there's a I mean, again, like all the set piece scenes, there's a scene that they allude to in the trailer of them on a subway. Oh yeah that yeah I so I'm I can expect I'm waiting for this scene because that's one thing I won't even see. I refuse I only seen the tape that one teaser was it. Yes, the subway. I'd only seen like 10 seconds of the trailers. I didn't know what I was watching yet. And then I was like, Oh shit, there's a Ghostface mask. I got to put my eyes down. But I still knew. So I was waiting for that too. I'm like, When are they going to get to this? That's right. That was a great set piece, and that was also an indication to me on the trailer when I saw it for me and actually for whatever reason, my expectations of this movie were not great because I saw that trailer and I was like, okay, they're in New York. Like the whole that I honestly that moment, that moniker of New York, new rules, that kind of just rubs me the wrong way. I get it. I get it. But I'm but I'm seeing like the core group of that people that I remember from the first one. And I'm like, okay, they're here and now they're stuck in the subway. I'm like, I think this could be kind of I don't know if it's a complete mental fluke. I thought it was I mean, I did think it was lame. I thought it was like I told you this after the movie. I go, I thought I was watching, like a nineties movie. Yeah. No, because, like, it was he was saying, you know, I think it was like you thought I like I thought of campy, but I loved it. Yeah. I mean, there were flares like nineties horror flair touches in it, which I really, really liked. Yeah. And what I was going to say was that when you finally reach that scene in the movie, yeah, I'm so blown away by everything that when this scene actually happens, I remember, Oh, this is the scene that I made fun of to myself when I watched the trailer, like on board. And now I'm on board with the stakes and the circumstance and the way that that scene plays out. Yeah, I was like, This is fucking great. It's also it's also it's the slower scene because it literally set you up for the third act. Yeah. Yes. Like it gives you a break, right? It gives literally on their way to like the third act. It gives you a break nation. Yeah yeah. Because all these movies, typically the third act takes place you know in one location like Stu's house and the first one, the theater and part two. Yeah, that's typically how it goes. And it was that shit was so tense in the I mean the cutting patterns. I guess we could talk about plot wise. You brought this up. It is set during Halloween. It's, you know, it's a narrative. Just movies always. I wish they would have done more with Halloween. Yeah, they kind of didn't. They just did that because the subway. They did it for the subways. Yeah, because they wanted Ghostface mask as everyone's And I like that news story when you know there's like a Ghostface murder in the news. So then Ghostface mask sales like Skyrocket and everyone's on the subway wearing them. Yeah they didn't really use Halloween kind of in any scary league but I mean it is kind of cool. We've seen that so many times, I guess. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think they, I think they didn't do a lot with it, but I suppose like they set it up with that when we first meet the, the, our crew because they're at a Halloween party. Right. And so we're like okay, yeah, it's a Halloween party, but they don't necessarily stress that that's Halloween. But when we get to the subway scene, clearly a couple of days have gone by. So, yeah, this seems to take place over Halloween weekend. I think they said it. It was a few days. Yeah, I think they said it in the beginning. Like it's they're like Halloween's going to be just in a few days or something like that. Yeah. They dropped a date and college parties are when it's Halloween, they're doing Halloween the whole fucking week. Right. Exactly. Exactly. It all tracks in all tracks. But they didn't make a big deal of. Yeah. Do you want to talk about the one character that came back and then the character? I didn't tell you guys who was in it. That's where I'm going. We already talked about Courteney Cox a little bit. I thought you did really good work. I thought she came in strong. I liked her in it. I love Gale Weathers. And then, yeah, our other legacy character is Hayden Panettiere playing Kirby Reed from Scream four. She's now in FBI is great. And I was like, Whoa, this is a turn. And I yeah, I really liked her in it. She was the best part of four to me. But yeah, she wasn't in it that much in this case. She was. She wasn't, but she was great. Yeah, I thought she was really good. Yeah, she held up well. I thought she did too. I did kind of. I mean, a lot of times when I see things like this, it's just me. I roll my eyes. Of course. I really. Oh, it was eye roll for the FBI. Yeah, I was, but I was fine with it. But this is a crazy thing, though, because, like, I roll my eyes and then I immediately am like, All right, let's see what we do here. Yeah. It's not like you roll your eyes and shut down. Yeah, You have a knee jerk reaction being like, this isn't going to work, but you're open to letting it work for you. Yeah, and she was. I thought she was great to come back to not replace Neve Campbell, but it was a nice little breather. Like a refresher. Yeah, like the face that came back. It didn't help me miss. I didn't miss that at all. I didn't misstep, Campbell. Right, Right. I neither. Kirby Coming back was a good. Yeah. And she's someone who's also, like, joining like we're talking about this group and kind of saying like, you know, we're all part of the same family. So we got to, like, help each other, which is great. Yeah, it is. It is. And I did enjoy seeing her in it. You know, she hasn't acted in like four years. And it was just great to see her on screen again. I was rooting for, you know, Kirby and I never would have thought they'd bring her back from of anyone. Like, I just thought that they kind of left for lone saving stew for cream. Scream seven. You think so? You are on this theory that we'll get there. We'll talk about that in a second. But then no, but then there was another one. Another time that you almost. Yeah, I only didn't spoil it because I didn't remember who it was. We have. Yeah, I was. I was. So that was like just one of the best parts of Scream six for me. Was your reactions when he appeared onscreen. Yeah. When the camera cuts into a crime scene, we see the lead detective is played. By who? Nick? Dermot Mulroney. One of your favorites? Sort of by do we? We all this year we were like, Yes. And he had a hell of a fun time making this movie. He was loving it. You tune it up when he needed to, but I thought he did great. It was so fun watching minute. I thought it great. If anyone tracks back to our Zodiac Deep Dive episode. Oh yeah. We talk a lot about Dermot Mulroney and our shared love for him, and he's the Zodiac. Yeah, he's in Zodiac. Who does he? He's the he's like the lieutenant of. He's Mark Ruffalo's boss. Oh, wow. Is that great thing where he comes out and the camera focuses on him, he goes, No, Yeah, because they just read his entrance, but he's not in it very much. That's why it's nice. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, So good. That's one of my favorites from him. But he's so good that he's one of my favorite. One of those, like, far, far supporting characters that shows up. But he's got some roles that he's got bigger things in. But for the most part, you know him from all of the things that he just shows. You love him and New Girl and I love him as fancy man and new girl. Fancy name isn't his actual name. His name's Russell Boy. Thank you. But yeah, I did not expect him to be in this. And when he showed up, I did lose my mind. Yeah. And he joined the ranks really well, like it was good. He killed it. Yeah, they did. They will bring in, like Patrick Dempsey did the. You know, he was in part three, like, they'll bring in some of these them these characters they brought in for Patrick Dempsey. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like, he's the cop. The funny thing about that is that they the whole ending scene he, well he yeah Patrick Dempsey does live the whole and it'll be interesting like they had to reshoot that because it didn't test will bring him back. So yeah I mean we talked to that. Who could they bring back to screen seven. All right, you want to open up this little theory or the theory stew for? I just love. I just love Matthew Lillard. I love the day. Who does that? In Scream six, they say they bring up Stew in Scream six. They do. They bring them all up like it's it's a very well connected franchise movie. Yeah they really do hold on to their history with Yes yes but I'll say four and they explain it well I mean I wonder how many people are seeing scream six that haven't seen like any of the others. That would be a weird experience. I mean, it's one of those things you're like they did so much on Scream six to like address the other five. Yeah, yeah. Seven. Certainly true. Keep doing it. I almost wonder if you were to have seen this one without seeing any of the other. Terrible. Yeah, in a weird way. Oh it would ruin all six movie. All five movies for you. You prior. You will. Yeah. Yeah they have, they have a scene where. Yeah. They show everything. They literally have like a white board of every ghost face from every previous movie. Yeah. Yeah. And how it's connected to everything and everyone. And that's part of, like, the payoff that you get from so many of these moments that happen in both Scream five and this one where you're like, Oh, this is this and this is this. And oh, that's really cool. But there wasn't a lot of I would say there wasn't a ton of inside references to prior ones like time. There were more. Yeah, Yeah, for sure. I mean, I mean they had I mean I guess all the references were like in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly. The, the thing that, Yeah. There were no there being like a Dewey song was nice other than the van. Yeah. No they were bringing stuff back like I leaned over to you and I said they're making a lot of parallels here to. To. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, Van was the vans, too. Yeah, in the van where. Yeah, that happened to Jamie Kennedy and part to that. Yeah. They like bring that background. So there's references, they're just subtle about them. I think they almost are taking the things that worked best from if they're, if they keep going down this formula what they're doing is they're taking the things that worked the best from those Yeah. And using those as the parallels, but they're creating something new because like Scream five really did work on a template that was like The Force Awakens that we talked about. It was like a little bit like, Are we going do the exact same thing, but we're going to do it new. This really does take a departure. Yeah, we go somewhere new. We're dealing with different situations, different environment, but the parallels are there. Yeah. And yeah, works so fucking they, they do. They do it. Especially for nerds like me who just love every movie, you know, who love like Scream two. And I was catching all this little stuff. I'm like, okay, there's some stuff. Yeah. Want to run? I can't go down that road. I love Melissa. Barry That's who I was going to bring up next. I love her. I thought she was better in this than Scream five and I loved her and I loved her scream. I did too. I thought she almost stole the show in Scream six like she was really, really good. Put a lot into it. I thought she was great. I've never seen her in anything else. No, she never. She is. I can't believe it. I can't believe how much I like her. Did you like her in? Are you a fan? Here it comes. Oh, God, yes. Oh, thank you. No, I did. I did. I mean, no, I did. I. But yeah, I didn't. I mean, I liked her as a character. I like. I like how she is tied to Billy Loomis. Yes. Those, like, flashes. If you saw Scream five, she does have these little visions for this trailer, and it's not really a spoiler. I mean, she does have visions of her father. And that's also why I think it works without Sidney is because you have. Yes, you have Sam Wright as the new Billy connection. I agree. I agree. Because you needed someone to stretch all the way back to the first one. Yeah. And Gail is that character, but she is one step removed from Billy, which is why Sidney was a core. The core. But now Sam is the new Sidney because she is also connected to Billy in a way that Sidney was. Yeah. And I think that that helps, honestly, with us not caring about Deb's absence as much as me, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. And then we have Jenna Ortega, who, as we said, has become like this huge thing in the past year based on everything, she's been probably wed, most notably on Netflix. But she's great as well too. And they pull a lot of stuff like they brought up, you know, trauma, which I really appreciated of. Like you're not dealing with this what happened to us a year ago. And she's like, I don't want to I don't want to live in the past. But it's like, so I got to deal with this shit and then, you know, you can not live in the past, but you got to deal with that first. I got you. Great. Yeah. Yeah. Huge fan of hers. I really like her. She kind of came out of nowhere for me, and I was sort of like, Who is she? Right? And kind of found out that she was a part of, like, the Disney crew. Is that right? Yeah, she was. I mean, she she was definitely like a a child child star. I mean, I didn't see any of that stuff. I didn't see any of either. But I remember she kind of burst on to like these new movies and everyone's making a big deal. And I was sort of like, why? And then, I mean, oh, she was a child actor, and now she's growing into like adult parts. And so I'm okay. That makes sense. That's what they do. Yeah. Like they kind of like take like, you know, whatever the new star is going to be. And it was kind of like, you know, put the rocket ship on her. Yeah. And it seems like what that what they're doing with her. But the nice thing is, is that she's like swimming instead of sinking. Yeah. She's actually putting out good work. Yeah. Do you think she was more supporting in Scream five though? What do you mean, supporting? She's more of a supporting character in Scream five. She was in it a lot less than Scream six. I, I would definitely say Melissa Barrera is the lead. Yeah, I wouldn't it. But they gave her they gave a lot more screentime in screen sex Yeah yeah she almost like equal I think Yeah I mean well that like that core group from Scream five they share a lot of screen time together in Scream six, which was cool. Or would you say scream time? Oh, wow. Wow. Good on a good one. A lot of screen time. What else? Who else do we like? Melissa Barrera 330 Center. Man, I love her. I'm in love. I'm in love. You want to excuse ourselves or take a quick break for now. But one thing I do want to say, the twins ones are great. The twins. The twins were great. Yeah, they're very, very good. I like them a lot better in this one than I actually did. The fifth one. Yeah, I liked them in five, but their dynamic was more built in. Yes. Really? Exactly. Brother. Sister. You believe as brother and sister? Yes. I like the kind of she she kind of owned the shtick that she had in five. Yeah. And it carries over in this one I think much more naturally. Yeah. She's the more Jamie Kennedy of the two. Exactly. She. Well yeah that's exactly the one who explains he's charged the muscle, right? Yeah. Yeah, sure, Sure. Chad. Chad's the muscle. Have the muscle. Oh, let's talk about how most surprisingly, Scream six is actually being, like, well received by now, which we can't really believe. I can see why now, but I just I think that's really cool. I never expected it to be doing well. You know, I think it's going to have a good weekend moneywise and critics seem to like it. What's the rotten tomatoes on this? It was 80 a few days ago. I looked right just before we started at 76. You know, that's that's pretty low. That's yeah, it's getting lower but it's way lower. But they're making scream they're going to extremes seven. It's going to happen. I mean I think they Yeah. Wait how it's already doing this on day two. Right Right. They're going to make scream seven. Yeah. I mean I wonder if they already have scripts written. I mean you know, borderline. Yeah. Outlines of I wonder how far they want to take this These two guys, these radio silence guys too. They want to do Sky's the limit. Big Ben Are they going to have Scream 17 in space like Jason X? They're going to have it. I think you wait for 10 minutes for space. Jason that's first got their investors got there at nine. You think vintage will be in Scream seven? I don't think so. No, I hope not. Who is it? Who? You already said one. But who do you think they could bring back for Scream seven? Who the hell did you two say as like. Oh, I said, I said I done. That's do. But I said the guy from Scream for the cop. He said it's already said are scream three. Patrick Dempsey. Patrick Dempsey. Patrick Dempsey. I guess so. I mean they're more fresh for you. I don't really remember who's alive. Yeah. I mean, none of the Dempsey got fucked up, though. He did. He did, but he makes it. He got fucked up. Everyone gets fucked up. That's another thing. Like people that one thing these movies are, they're a little they are a little loosey goosey with the stab you, but you stuck up in there still. But that's why you didn't really care for Scream four two. Because the physics don't make sense. The physics. And that is why I had a huge problem. Scream four because you're throwing people, but you also goes and I was like, This better be like a Yeah, but scream five and scream six, I think do better because obviously we all know by now there's usually there's going to be probably more than one killer. Yeah. So you can if you look back you like, okay this scene it was probably this person behind the mask. Yeah. Yeah. Another scene. It was this person. Yeah. No, for sure. For sure. If you. Yeah, I'm definitely gonna see it again so you can go back and kind of track it that way. Yeah. A lot of fun. I do want to see it again. I want to see. Oh, I want. I kind of want to see it break right now. Yeah, I know. You get to, like, look for little clues. I cut cut some stuff here and there. I think back in hindsight, man, I can't get over that fucking beginning. That thing was awesome. So really, really well done. All right, I do want to rank these. I want to hear everyone's rankings. If you have written down or not, I have. We're not going to go back and forth. We're just going to do it. Everyone's going to do all in one descending, you know, least favorite, two favorite, six, five, four, three, two, one. You want me to go first? You want to go first? You go first. All right, I'll do it. Six for me. Shocker. Scream four. Not a big fan. Then I'll go to Scream three Your 2000. Fourth favorite scream right now. Okay. I was going to say Scream six. I don't know if I like six or five or six better. Oh, you're fighting me first. You are? Well, yeah, my. I mean, come on. So, okay, right now I have four scream six and scream five, scream two. And number one is scream. Obviously, the real the hard thing for me right now is five or six. Which one did I like better? And this is a really good problem to have because, you know, talking about two franchise movies, it held up neck. I have my order. I wasn't listening because I was trying to figure it out. If you put six first, I'm a shit. No, I didn't. Okay. But am I going to start with your least favorite first? My least favorite is four. Okay, good. And then it's followed by three. Okay, I'm sorry. Well, at number four, fours two. Oh, bummer. I know. That's a tough one. I'm sorry. Okay. No, it's okay. But then we're followed by five. Oh, wow. And then we followed that by six second favorite. And now we got one. One because you can't beat the original, but six is what I. I really loved this movie. It was really good. We had a really, really fun time watching it. All right. You mind is at least is scream four, scream three scream five. Okay. Oh, scream six, two, one, oh. Pressure. I think I'm. I could get on board with that order two, I could do that. It's five. Timothy Olyphant can't. I can't say no. I often rock blasphemy. No, it's not necessary. Two is amazing. Scream two is amazing. Amazing. Jerry. Jerry O'Connell. Jerry recipe. So my God, he's still alive. But the yeah I mean in the movie Derek and Hello Derek What song is he saying? Oh I come I love you. I think I love you. He's so good. And then all of us were cheering him. Oh, yeah. It's so funny you should say. Yeah, you're going to fucking butcher him later. 30 minutes. Just a little, love. Just a good guy, man. Just a good guy is doing the best he can as a boyfriend. Was he really good? Oh, that's cool. That's cool. Yeah. No, I love Sydney. Oh, God. Okay, we can go, too. What are you watching here? Do you know how this works? Have you ever listen to our podcast? He explained to you how it works that you could pick any single movie you want and recommend? It can be one you like. Yeah, whatever. And you have to recommend and tell us why. Per Nick's guidelines, we let the guest go last, which means you get to go first. Of course I do, because that's how it always goes here. It works better that way. My God, I don't believe it. We already told me what it is too, but we can have a good conversation. Yeah, I'm very excited about this book. As my burgeoning new horror kick is happening currently before our very eyes. Yes, I really fell in love with the Barbarian. I love it. I'm so glad you watch it. I talked about it on the pilot. I'm so glad you watch. It's I. I was. We were. I was trying to get it in when we were doing our favorite movies of 2022. Okay. And I was just kind of like jamming all the ones I could. And I was like, You know what? Alex said? That I might really like this. Let's just watch it. Yeah. And I watched it. The justification for why characters do things in horror movies is always something where it's like, okay, these characters are making stupid decisions. That's kind of the thing. It's kind of the thing. Yeah, you have to go along with it a little bit. You do. And I understand, like in the Scream movies, that's actually part of the fun. Oh, yes it is. But in other tropes it's just the formulaic thing of what happens. So you just can't be like, Oh, now, now we're doing this. Yeah, but in Barbarian, I felt as the audience that I could understand why someone might be making the quote unquote dumb decision. Sure should go down the stairs. They, the filmmakers put me in a position where I could wrap my head around it and now I'm invested. Yeah, now I actually care because I'm like, Fuck yeah, I would go down there, God damn. And and then where that movie takes you creatively, telling you, man is just like, you don't expect. No, no. And then it hits you. And there's so many things I can't really recommend this movie enough. Like, so like that fucking much. Would it make your top ten or 20? 20 do you think. If you I mean we'd have to cook up to like, Well, if you want me to take out deep water then, you know, I mean, you're really just kind of pushing me and maybe I would. It would, maybe, but I think I would honestly, that would be the movie. I would swap it out for sure, because it's sort of like a she's the fun movie. Yeah. Yeah. The fun pic. Yeah. Yeah. It might be my asterisk. That's cool. That's cool. I liked it that much. It was really good. I love it. I love it. The Ben Affleck movie he love. Did he do it on his top? Don't knock it until you rock. I movie's awesome that it's not an awesome. I don't know if it's top ten of the year worthy, but it's a lot of fun for a genre movie. They don't make erotic thrillers anymore. Dan Don't get me started. Ben Affleck Like at his finest, I guess. A lot of snails. A lot of snails. I don't know. The snails were a thing where to watch it, you know, together. Three of us have already seen it. I don't need to watch it to be fucking weird. But your face, he looks mortified. You're not going to like my. What are you watching? Pick. I'm sorry. What are you going to do? Scream Fucking six. Go see. My God. Everyone the double down. Go see it in 3D. Go see it in 40 X. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to go see this fucking C 40 x. What's it going to do? It's going to move around when Ghostface comes and jumps. What's it going to splash on? You? I turned water off. I only saw it once when I saw 1979. I didn't know I bought a ticket for 40 X worst fucking movie to have. This is chair movie. I was like, Oh my God, I've never actually done 40 because I don't. It fucking moves like it moves a lot. They have some seats that don't move, so you can choose not to, you know, sit in that. But I've never done it and I knew, I mean I've never like intentionally done it. And I said if I like this movie enough, I think I'm going to go do the 3D 40 X thing. So when I get back, that's what I'm going to do. But I want everyone to go watch movie. That's what I'm saying. I have to recommend it. I have to double down on this. Yeah, people got to go see this. Go see it in the theater, Give it some money. You up? Part seven, goddammit. Yeah. We want Melissa Barrera. Tell us more. Oh, your love is going to go out on her a little bit more. A go for it. I really loved the badassery that she brings. She's very. Yes, she's very tough. Not afraid. Yeah. No, I love that she's tough and vulnerable. Like. Like she like she really brings like, I felt this sisterly quality to her. I felt that all the conflict that basically the drama of her character, I think she pulls off. Yeah, she does unbelievably well. And then in the situations that she needs to be a badass right? It's fucking great. Yeah. You really believe it? I don't want to spoil a scream. Five. She killed someone in. Yes, she does scream fucking awesome way like it's nuts and it carries over into this one. Yeah. And I'm like, She's fucking great. She's great. She's great. All right, Daniel, what are you watching? What movie you're going to recommend? Well, I don't, folks. I don't watch a lot of films. Okay? You watch. Yes, you do. We talked about. I would. I would have to recommend. I can be into it. Nightmare on Elm Street three not good injury free movie DreamWorks up about it. Look, I saw that in an Alamo Drafthouse like I think around Halloween. I just watched it the other day. Cause why not? Why not? Oh, great, great. What's this? Runs in that He's great. Great credit is Larry. Larry? Yeah, he was Larry's Larry in Apocalypse Now. But no, it's good. Yeah, it's just it's, it's yeah, I think that's my it made up for how bad Nightmare two was. Nightmare two is not good. No it's kind of even forget it exists. Right. But no, I just it's it's like a fun it really it, it's like we're going to all go dream together and kick ass. Right? Right. He's if we one Yeah. This nightmare to have the the the where they're trying to get up the stairs but like it's like take like mud like they can't get up the stairs. Is that the glue I thought it was. I've only seen the first three. I thought that was one now. Oh my bad. But I don't know. I could be absolutely wrong. I know what you mean, though. It's like murder. Like, you know, it was good. You liked it. Oh, good. Yeah, I recall. I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street three with a buddy at a sleepover, and we were watching all the horror movies. And I remember we were both like, This is actually kind of good. It is like it's actually like a really good movie. I like it a lot. That's a good one. Yeah. You smart people to go check it out. Cool. Keeping it craven. I rent that VHS tape from your old blockbuster. Yeah. And then recipes got I, I miss. I love going down those aisles. Oh, my God. That I learned so much. I to wish I was a fly on the wall when you went as a kid. Oh, my God. Oh, I can. I can plug back. Yeah. I was going to say you were the most serious motherfucker in that. Well, everyone is on the outer aisles getting the new stuff, and I'm in there like, getting a morris parasite in my mom's like, The fuck do you work? Or the employees, You know? I mean, I lived in the middle of nowhere, so, like, my blockbuster was far. And so there were I think a lot of people went out of there. Now, my small town had it's got flashbacks. It was in the basement of a diner and they 100 movies, basically 100 VHS now 180,000 VHS, which is less movies than I am now. And I literally went and started in alphabetical order. Oh, yeah. At ten, because I, you know, started with my silver tongue. I smooth my way in there and they let me rent R-rated movies. Yeah. Now it's true story. Were there any porno videos in there? No, no pawns and flashbacks. But I did that. I mean, one could say that my fascination with erotic thriller started there in the basement. A flashback was it was it was like, these are species. So what you're talking about species is a really erotic thread. I'm talking more like two moon junction, you know? Jade Oh, good one. Yeah. We go, Oh, man, I had a more animal sliver. Sharon Stone Let's face it, Sydney, your mother was no Sharon Stone Okay, that was fun, boys. It was really. It's okay. It was a lot of fun to see it together, to laugh. I loved that our crowd was into it. We had some who's ours. That was fun. Thank you, Daniel, for joining us. I hope you'll be back soon. Very soon. Wink, wink. Thank you for having me.
